I saw the ask about if you ship Lila or Five with anyone else, and I (jokingly) though, "what about Delores?" lol Seriously, it's crazy how many people suddenly became big Five/Delores shippers because they didn't want him with Lila. Delores was not a person. She was a tool Five used to cope with his loneliness and trauma.
The scenes with Dolores are interesting as a look into Five's mental state (because there is literally no one he's really opened up to in this way before). And it's interesting to see that Five is actually very romantic, protective, and loyal. It's scraps, but it's totally consistent with his later behavior. (So anyone who says he was out of character should see the series again.)
It's pretty sad and incomprehensible to me how some are like "Dolores would be better than Lila" because they'd just rather have Five crave the illusion of a woman made of stress, trauma, and loneliness than be with a real woman who is actually like him in many ways and they've known each other for years.
Yes, there is supposedly a book where Dolores is also like an existing person, but in the show she's just not more than his fantasy. It's rather sad that his would-be fans don't wish him the little bit of happiness he's found. He had such a strong bond with Lila, after everything that had happened, that few people could really imagine...
