Funny how the first art I made this year is a quick doodle. Life do be like that sometimes.

“I am so intensely conscious of my misfortune and my misery is so overwhelming that I am powerless to resist it and am being turned into stone, devoid of all knowledge or feeling.” - Don Quixote
in 2026 DO NOT ask yourself whether your art is GOOD
instead ask:
is it SINCERE
was it CATHARTIC
was it FUN TO MAKE
is it MADE BY ME
and don't forget to stay silly

2025 quick recap
What I probably appreciate most about 2025 was that it reminded me, out of nowhere, to go back to making art halfway through the year.
Here’s hoping 2026 will do the same all year round. 🙂
Nothing really mattress
Agony
I am peace destroyed and eyes forced open, the ragged ring around your neck.
I am your secret wish for others.
I am their secret wish for you.
Yesterday, I was reminded of a certain Ms. Katy Towell and her tales of the macabre which my angsty teenage self truly adored. What better way to get back into drawing than by making this quick homage to one of the many influences behind my fondness for melancholy in all its forms—my personal favorite work of hers, Agony.

"Unnamed Random Drawing #1—or Eyes."
Still continuing the fire, I colorized this other old art of mine back in September. I have never considered myself good at doing linework, but I must say, I really liked how this one turned out.
I drew this originally around March of 2018. It was one of those random drawing sessions where there isn’t a clear concept and you sort of just go along as you draw.
Aside from thorns, vines, hollow heads, and human-like vessels, I also have a fixation with drawing eyes. And when I say eyes, I mean lots of them.

"Overgrown"
It was still around August that I decided to color some of my old drawings, just to keep the fire going. The first one I did was this. A 2019 Inktober entry I made for the 14th day which had the theme "overgrown".
A hollow, human-like vessel with protruding thorns or vines. From time to time, I always find myself incorporating these two elements on what I draw. Some times separate, and some times combined like this one. Why? I actually don't know. I guess I'll expound and share about it some other time with some other samples.
🌱
"Prince with a swift warning"
The last drawing I did before this was way back July of 2021. My mindset was so much different back then. I didn't have time for anything other than my work. I set aside drawing even as a hobby. I have forgotten that art has always been my outlet for all the things I am unable to physically or verbally express.
Some time around August, I had this sudden urge to draw El-Ahrairah. Watership Down has always been a favorite of mine, whether it be the book or the movie. For some reason, it re-ignited my fire for art.
Here's hoping I can keep it lit.
