Yesterday, I was reminded of a certain Ms. Katy Towell and her tales of the macabre which my angsty teenage self truly adored. What better way to get back into drawing than by making this quick homage to one of the many influences behind my fondness for melancholy in all its forms—my personal favorite work of hers, Agony.

He is always on my mind, so here are some things I think Armand would love.

. Don't Hug Me I'm Scared - He's obsessed with the duck one but also feels bad when the yellow one is mistreated & finds his dad unsettling. He makes Daniel dress up as the red one for Halloween one time & while he feels ridiculous, they do have nasty freaky sex after, so Daniel decides that he dosn't actually mind.

. The Hunger Games - He makes super fluffy fan fic/art where Finnick gets to live happily ever after but also ones where him & the other victors, + their loved ones, team up to brutally torture Snow (which Daniel secretly hopes will be a stepping stone for him eventually coming to terms with what Marius did to him)

. Lemon Demon - coz sure Lestat might be the one going all rockstar in S3 but give my boy a keyboard & some synths & try telling me he WOULDN'T start writing songs about sentient arcade machines that wanna kill you or a business man getting possessed by the spirit of santa & destroying the world

. Chibis - they're small, cute, seemingly ageless creatures with beautiful outfits & cool eyes. Need I say more?

. Dinosaurs - they're big, scary & dead yet are loved by kids. He feels a kinship with them.

. The work of Katy Towell - it's creepy, often children orientated & he loves the animations that go along with them (his fravriotes being The Little Girl Who Was Forgotten By Everyone but Daniel makes sure he dosn't watch it alone otherwise he can become very closed off & go non verbal for a long time afterwards)

. Pretending that he's favourite artist is Taylor Swift, & greatly contributing to her continued success, claiming to relate to her romantic struggles & body image issues, but really, it's just to piss off Lestat. Who, no matter how hard he tries, just can't seem to build a fanbase as big/loyal as the Swifties even with the benefit of mind control (it's because he keeps eating the groupies lol).

Not Coffin art lol but I wonder the reason why I love tcoaal so much was because it reminds me of old Katy Towell’s work, I’ve always wanted to make fanart of Katy Towell’s Childrin R Skary. Originally i planned to draw all her Childrin series in October but life has other plans

Oh, before I forget: I have a VoiceClaim for Nina as well! The voice you're hearing is that of Katy Towell, who also animated this piece.

THIS is how old I am lmao

Nina's voice is similar to her father's in that they're both fairly quiet, and can sound a little monotonous with their Flat Affects(I'm telling you, you don't have to squint to see the Autism /silly). However, Nina's voice is much higher in pitch, as well as (what I'm hoping is more notably) more hushed. I liked the idea of her sounding light and airy -- you'll never hear her in time before she Gets You 😈

Two things I would tweak from what you're hearing are 1) Nina talks a little slower in pace, and 2) I've more recently decided that Nina s'urrs her worr's a lul bet more than her father, who was noticeably articulate at her age. The trope of the Hyperarticulate Genius is kind of not necessary for a semi-verbal girl like Nina; it would just feel like an afterthought at that point, y'know?

You can't do that with AI!

In my dreams, I imagine near perfect pictures and sounds that can never and will never be matched unless you were somehow just rich and powerful enough to order them be made into existence. It's for that reason that I fully understand the tinker-tinks behind AI technology fiddling with vocals to make something new, as we all do with video and audio mixing, but a) that doesn't make it ethical, and b) it still doesn't compare to perfect visions and whispers of ideas that exist only in our head if you're given a prompt---

for example, in my dream I was watching Katy Towell's The Little Girl who was Forgotten by Absolutely Everyone short

but instead of Tim Jones narrating it was being voice acted by Mathew Rhys, the voice of Emperor Belos from The Owl House.

No offense to Tim, he's still great, but holy moly Emperor Belos narrating Children r Skary was a matchmade in spooky heaven and one of the few good things I've ever dreamed about.

OF COURSE, only in MY DREAMS was one of the better things I've dreamed about also about horror but you can't do that now can you AI now can you??

Wooo! I finally remade my yearly draw-it-again!

I dont feel like my style has changed a lot since last year but thats fine. Doesn’t need to, just means im getting comfy in how my art should look. I think the background is a lot better this time around.
