I just had a friend recommend me this show so I decided to try it

It seems pretty interesting so far, I like the mix of detectives and uniform cops

I am not a fan of how it’s filmed like , I know it’s meant to make it seem more realistic but not a fan. But that is something I can get over

Also bruh is that Jim Gordon does this guy ever not play cops

OK, this might be an unpopular opinion and I’m fine with that. I also am not here to rain on anyone’s parade. You’re allowed to like what you like and I’m allowed to like what I like and that’s fine. If you disagree with me, you can tell me in the comments, and I will discuss it with you civilly in the comments.

Since the show started, I have been all for Shawn and Juliet. I haven’t talked much about it on this page, but I have been silently appreciating their relationship. But I am starting to unfortunately fall off of the Shules train.

Ever since we met Declan Rand Juliet has been vocal about her need of trust and honesty. I feel like this has been a part of her character, obviously since the show has started, but it’s become more of a focal point since Declan Rand. But Shawn refuses to tell her the truth. Now I am aware that the truth requires the fact that Shawn will get in trouble. Shawn, no doubt is trying to save himself.

But that almost is part of the problem for me. He claims to love Juliet so much he has claimed this for many seasons. But he refuses to make a sacrifice for her. Now, I also know that we are early into their true romantic relationship and it will take a while for things to develop properly. There may be a time where I get back on the shules train, because Shawn decides to make this sacrifice and he finally physically shows how much he loves Juliet instead of just verbally expressing it.

But at this very moment, I can’t say that I am for this relationship with the way that he claims to be truthful and claims to have tried to work out some of his childishness for her when he has not and again I do understand that this is him trying to protect both his career and him and Gus from getting in trouble. But if you claim to love someone so much, you should be willing to make a sacrifice that he has not been willing to make for at least half a season. 

Of course, the longer he waits to make this reveal the worse it’s gonna be for Juliet. And Shawn is not a stupid man (as much as the show is making him out to be these last couple of seasons) he knows this he knows that the longer this relationship is built on lies the worse it’s gonna be. Yet he still refuses to make any sacrifice for her. Honestly, I feel like Shawn hasn’t pulled much weight in this relationship. It wasn’t as bad when they were flirting because there was no true stakes to it other than the will they won’t they. But now that they are together, he needs to make decisions that he refuses to make.

I understand some of this refusal to make decisions does come from his refusal to grow up which his refusal to grow up stems from his emotional neglect I’ve talked about that a couple of times on this page. But someone’s mental and emotional state is not an excuse to treat someone badly. It is a reason and that can be something that you can understand, but reason and excuse are two separate things. So unfortunately, I feel like I cannot defend Shawn on this front. I think he is dragging his feet in this relationship.
