Hello, my name is Celia and I am a synesthete. Since there is not very much info about this condition, I would like to hear other people's synesthesia experiences, create a place for other synnies to feel welcome, and for those who don't know about synesthesia to learn about this cool neurological condition!

Hello! I was wondering could ou have synesthesia if you can just see some things? Like most of my days of the week and months have colours and personalities but for some reason septembar means nothing to me?

That’s pretty normal! A lot of people don’t see colors for certain things. For example I call the number “0” and “floater” because it’s color changes depeding on what numbers are with it, other than that it doesn’t have color.

Hey!! So I did that cool colour test thing that you had a link for, and I got a zero. It says it's a perfect score. But what does that mean exactly? I read something about this tetrachomancy or something like that. Do I have that? With the score of zero, and I also have synesthesia what the heck is my brain doing? Help please!!! Thanks!!!!!

Wow, awesome! The test means that you are able to tell the difference between colors that are very similar, which for some people, is more difficult. But I guess not for people like us! Because you scored extremely low on this test does not mean that you are a tetrachromat, it just means that you have the ability to see the difference between colors. Being a tetrachromat genetic, and the only way to know for sure is if you get a genetic test done. Your chances of being a tetrachromat are risen if you have a male relative (such as a father, uncle, or grandfather) that has a form of colorblindness, you are female, neuro-diverse, and have high color discrimination. I fit all of these, and I have had personal experiences (like seeing colors on walls and in paintings that other people don't see) that make me seem like a very likely canidate for tetrachromacy, but I have never had a genetic test done. So if you're really interested, look into your family history and get a test done! Tell me what you discover because I've never met anyone else who has this ability!

hey so you believe synesthesia it's a genetic mutation? :)

it’s a possibility. i read some research that suggested that we all have synesthesia as babies, but as our brain develops we separate our senses. maybe it’s similar to how babies can have blue eyes at birth and then later develop melanin on the iris, unless they have the mutated gene that keeps this from happening. maybe there’s a gene that keeps synesthetes from completely separating our senses, and maybe there’s a totally different explanation. only time and research can tell :)
