Well, I am doing something that I like, but also as a way of paying my debt to my friends. Long story, no need to get into it, but anyways I find my life just fine. and what about you with yours?

Oh, I like my life just fine...just...I don’t know. Maybe it’s silly, but... I just can’t help but feeling like I’m missing out, or I’m not doing enough. Sometimes it feels very empty...you know?

“Cedric Diggory dropped out of a tree,” Flynn said, a shrug accompanying it. “But, considering he’s a fictional character, I wouldn’t think that very likely.” He grinned at the brunette, giving her a wink. “Well, let’s hope Rapunzel isn’t one to say no to this handsome face. I might cry. Well, in any case, if I find any men in trees, I’ll send them your way. Deal?”

“Deal.” Jane replied, feeling strangely glad that she had stopped and talked to Flynn.

“Hello Cecil,” he said, taking hold of the little guy; well, not so little, the baby lion was bigger than he’d expected him to be. “Hopefully this doesn’t hurt, but when this is all done, I promise you can gnaw my ankles.” Buzz grinned, watching as Jane went about prepping. “Not exactly the best timing for this sort of thing, right?”

“No, certainly not.” she said, pushing around the towel so she reach a back leg. “Poor little Cecil here was rejected by his mother at another zoo my friend works at. We were able to trade some penguins for him, and he hasn’t been doing so well. He was just started to take off when he caught this chest cold and then the weather decided to be absolutely insane. Poor thing. He hasn’t had an easy time.” She administered the shot and then wrapped the towel back around him. “Hopefully things will be a little better for him.”

“Well… I’d say Danny, but, well, I think he’s got a lady friend. Don’t worry, I’m sure I can find someone.” Flynn shrugged, not really knowing anyone their age except for Hans Landvik and Kristoff Bjorgman, and he didn’t really run in their circles. Well, maybe now he’d reconnected with Kristoff… if he wasn’t dating that cop. “……Yep. I’ll find someone. Or maybe help you find someone. I don’t know.”

“Oh, sure. Like I’ll just wander into the forest and one will just drop out of a tree.” Jane laughed. “You’ll be better off focusing on your...Blondie. If you need anymore advice, or a new job, I’ll probably be at the zoo.”

Well, yeah, it was terrifying. Feelings were not normal for Flynn, and he was freaking out. “How’d you get so smart at this, hm, Jane?” he asked, giving her the attractive eyebrow. “Well, I’m gonna see if this works, I guess… And maybe me and Amish-hair will actually work out, huh?” He gave her a little grin. “I should set you up with someone as repayment. I don’t know who, but I will find someone and send them your way.” Okay, probably meddling in her personal affairs wasn’t the best way to show appreciation, but Flyyn wasn’t a normal guy.

Jane shrugged. “I watch the animals. They’re very straightforward about all this stuff, much less confusing than people.” She smiled, and really hoped that things would work out between Flynn and...whatever her name was. She’d known Flynn for so long, but it finally seemed like he might be growing up. Well, at least a little. “Right, sure. What kind of guy would be interested in me? He’d have to be more than a little off his rocker.”

“Okay, frost bite might be an over exaggeration,” Buzz said, smirking, but with a little shiver as well. “Well, alright it is chilly.” He followed Jane through the hallways until they reached the veterinary room. “I’d be glad to help, just show me what to do so I don’t hurt him.”

Jane smiled, putting down the medicine, she turned to an incubator at the edge of the room. Cecil, the new born baby lion, mewled as she picked him up and swaddled him in a hand towel. “Cecil, this is the astronaut Buzz Lightyear.” she said, walking back to Buzz. “He’s going to hold you while I have to give you a shot, okay?” She looked up at Buzz. “You ready? He is ferocious.” Cecil meowed in response.

“Really pretty guy? Yes, definitely sounds accurate.” Buzz was positive his face was a bright pink by this point, but he could calk it up to the cold weather. “Oh, sure, what can I assist you with?”

“Well, first we should get you inside, you look like you might be getting frostbite.” Jane opened the gate to the Zoo to let the two of them in and she turned immediately to go into one of the office doors. “I came in today,” she explained while walking down quite a few corridors before ending up in a vet examination room, “because one of our animals, Cecil, is sick and this weather is pretty much the worst thing that could happen right now.” She rummaged through shelves before finding the vial and a syringe. “So he has to have a shot. Think you can hold him?”

“Human mating dances. Ha, that’s a good one, might keep that one in the repertoire.” Flynn laughed awkwardly, thinking over what Jane had just said. Maybe the same was true for Rapunzel, in that she didn’t know how to read such social cues. Maybe he just needed to show her that he was really caring for her. Flynn - His thoughts paused, realizing that he was Eugene to her now. And Eugene, as much as he hated to admit, was not very good with the ladies at all. What if he screwed up? He’d been Flynn Rider for so long, what even was Eugene Fitzherbert anymore? “So…that would actually work?” he asked, unsure. Usually he’d been able to just talk women into bed, but this was the first time he’d ever wanted something more substantial.

It scared him. “You know, I might like to tackle a grown tiger than face the fact that I’m actually fall-” He snapped his lips closed. Nope. Not those three words. Those words had never left his lips unless he was joking or being ironic. “-liking some one for realsies.”

“Would that actually work?” Jane snorted. “Of course it will work...or at least, you will most likely get a definite answer. Now, I’m not saying that it’ll be the answer that you want...but I personally would rather know exactly where I stood with someone than be wrapped up in ‘complicated’.” She searched Flynn’s face. “And you’re right, taking on one of our tigers would probably be less scary. But that’s part of growing up is facing our feelings and dealing with them. As much as we’d like to pretend, we’re not in high school anymore. Sometimes you just got to step up to the plate and face it. You might be knocked down flat on your back, but that’s better than never leaving the dug out.”
