Falling In Love/Dating Maria Flores Headcanons (HSS)
You first notice her when you sign up for the homecoming committee. You observe Maria’s dominance, confidence, and sexiness how hard she worked. You wanted to go up and talk to her, but she was so … intimidating. You worked harder than everyone to get Maria to notice you and it paid off.
“Good job on painting this banner, Y/N.” She smiled before walking away.
You love holding hands with her. Even before you two were dating, holding hands relaxed and grounded the both of you. When Maria was stressing out (which was all the time), you grabbed her hand and squeezed it, a smile that seemed a bit too longing for “friends” on your face. In public, you link pinkies or stroke her hand before standing beside Maria, a subtle show of support.
“Y/N, are you and Maria dating?”
“What? No! Y/N and I are just—”
“Payton! What makes you think that?” Payton smiles and looks at your intertwined hands.
Asking her to Homecoming and to be your girlfriend. You’re terrified, of course, but you want Maria to remember this night. And you were done with dancing around your feelings. You wanted to date and love her. Simple. You could only hope Maria returned your feelings.
“Do you want to go to Homecoming with me?”
“Of course! I would love to.”
You always find a way to compliment her when she’s feeling sad (and even when she’s not). Maria sometimes works herself to exhaustion, which makes you worry about her to death. To distract her, you lower your voice to a soft whisper and nudge her away from the mountains of paperwork. When Maria sleeps, you try to do as much of her work as you can, which she adores.
“Hey, babe. You’re working so hard. How about taking a break with me? Maybe we can watch some movies?”
“I would love too, Y/N, I really would, but I have all this work—”
“I know. You work so hard and put your all into everything and I love that about you.” You squeeze her hands. “But even the greats need a break. C’mon, rest. For a little bit.”
“Alright. Anything for you.”
Lots of affection. Hugs? Absolutely. Snug, warm hugs that comfort the both of you. If you’re taller than Maria, you rest your chin on the top of her head, which she loves. Shorter? No problem. Maria would pepper kisses on the top of your head. The same height? You would nestle your face into her shoulder and vice-versa. Kisses? Loads of them and all kinds, too. Short, sweet ones when Maria’s dashing off to someplace. Long, passionate ones when you have a moment alone. Dates? At least once a week. At least. It’s your way of unwinding and telling each other that the love between you is strong and not easily broken.
Calming her down when she’s stressed. On the bad days, Maria falls asleep at her desk. You sigh, pick her up (or try to), and lay her on the couch with a blanket. On the good days, you can persuade her to take a break and eat her dinner. Sometimes, Maria cracks and rants to you about her worries, as you listen and try to help her, followed by a long hug.
Her taking care of you and vice-versa. Maria always thanks you for soothing her, so she tries to do it to you. She makes sure your grades are holding up, that you’re getting enough rest, and that you’re healthy. Maria fusses over you a lot, really.
