When dealing with job searches

It becomes very clear that if you are not committed to this one thing, you can’t get a job. It is overwhelmingly clear that ‘dabbling’ is not much of a choice. You get this job, you’re sticking to it until the day you die, that’s how it feels. It honestly makes you lose your mind. Some days you’re just like; “Oh, maybe I could go back to school and help animals! Yeah, I could be a veterinarian.”

REALITY:

A veterinarian, along with vet techs, have it just as bad (if not, WORSE) than doctors. If you feel no real connection with most people and can be distanced while still playing on empathy, you would be an AMAZING doctor, if you were qualified. At least, that’s how they come off to me, for all I know there’s probably some really nice doctors who’ll give you a hug when they see you and just make you feel comfy.

But, if you’re like me, where hearing a dog even whimper makes you feel like the most horrible human being on the planet, you bagging up dead dogs is a nightmare. I’ve read the articles from actual vet techs, and it feels like it’s the same as being a doctor: It is gruesome, heart breaking, gory and you will curse. It is foul and disgusting, but it is for the betterment of animals. And mankind. I considered it, truly, but along with being overworked and underpaid while dealing with some intense (and gross) situations, it made me re-consider. I’m 19 years old, and I don’t know where the f**k my life is going, but I’m trying.
