An Old Photo Of Me.
This was a photo of me and my cousin Sheila on my 1st birthday.
November Blogging Challenge: Day 24
Favorite Blogs.
I don’t really spend a whole lot of time browsing through Tumblr so I can’t say that I have any favorite blogs. I will say though, I’ll love and enjoy any posts of Chris Evans or any of my favorite movie quotes.
November Blogging Challenge: Day 23
My Favorite Childhood Book.
The one book that I can clearly remember reading over and over again is “The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. I remember getting it for my 5th birthday from one of my brother’s friends. It’s such a wonderful book that I have decided to give it to all my kids/nieces/nephews/godchildren on their 5th birthdays as well.
November Blogging Challenge: Day 22
Dream Job.
I don’t know about you, but my favorite place to be is at a concert, and to be honest it’s the place I’m always at my happiest. My dream job is to one day, be my favorite artist or band’s photographer while on tour. To be able to catch those special moments behind the scenes or while on stage, while getting to be in the concert atmosphere would be the best feeling in the world for me. I’ve slowly been gaining experience with working photo pits during live sets, so hopefully I’ll be able to live my dream for at least one tour some day.
November Blogging Challenge: Day 21
The Best Thing That Happened This Year.
Hands down, it was getting to spend time in San Diego and Anaheim this past summer. My family and I went camping in Carlsbad on the beach for 5 days, and my best friend Kaitlin came down for the weekend. We got to hang out and explore PB (Pacific Beach) and see the Sand Cloud mural that Jared painted before anyone else, and we got to have dinner with some of my family that we hadn’t seen in years. Then my family and I went to SeaWorld for a day, followed by a day at the San Diego Zoo. Then we left San Diego early in the morning and drove up to Anaheim and checked into the Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland for three days, while getting to experience Magic Mornings during our stay. Then Kaitlin met us at Disneyland and was our expert guide every day we were there. It was DEFINITELY the best trip ever!
November Blogging Challenge: Day 20
Favorite Foods.
Growing up in an Asian culture, I’m so grateful that I was exposed to so many different and unique foods growing up. I have a lot of different favorite dishes, including: Filipino lumpia, pork adobo, pancit palabok, Filipino style garlic & butter sautéed shrimp, Vietnamese Pho, Banh Mi’s, The Taco Stand’s (in San Diego) carne Asada fries, fish tacos, and Pad Thai are just to name a few.
What are some of your favorite foods?
November Blogging Challenge: Day 19
A Difficult Time In My Life.
On August 15th, 2019 I got a call that has forever changed my life. My aunt called to tell me that my cousin Sheila had passed away after only learning 6 days prior that she had Stage 4 lung cancer. For those of you who don’t know, Sheila was more than just a cousin to me. She was the cousin I was closest too, a best friend, and more importantly, she was like a second Mom to me.
I spent the days after her passing quietly grieving on my own. I didn’t want anyone to see me cry. Weeks went by and I constantly found myself trying to send her a text message, only to catch myself by realizing that she wouldn’t be there to answer. Sheila was my symbol of light, love, and laughter. It was because of her that I was able to experience so many opportunities, whether they be personal or professional, and for those moments I will be forever grateful.
Not a day goes by that I don’t think about her and miss her dearly, but I know that she and I will see each other again some day. I love you Ate Shel!
November Blogging Challenge: Day 18
My Collections.
I think I’m going to have to skip today’s topic because I really don’t have anything that I’m currently collecting or interested in collecting.
November Blogging Challenge: Day 17
The Meaning Behind My Blog Name.
When Everything Falls Back Down. At the time of my blog’s creation, which was exactly 10 years ago today (November 17th, 2019) actually had a different name. I honestly cannot remember what I had originally called it, but for the last eight years it has been called “wheneverythingfallsbackdown”. While I honestly wish that I had some super special story behind my blog’s name, there really isn’t one. One day I decided to rename my blog after one of my favorite songs, by one of my favorite bands, who technically called it quits about five years ago and that’s pretty much all there is too it.
November Blogging Challenge: Day 16
Proudest Moment.
While there have been quite a few proud moments in my life, I think one of the more recent ones that I want to talk about happened back in July 2017. My family and I went to UC Berkeley to see Jack Johnson perform at the Greek Theater. My cousin Sheila was able to get us VIP passes, as well as a photo pass for me to take photos during Jack’s set. After the concert was done and most of the VIP guests had left, my cousin Sheila asked us if we wanted to meet Jack. Jack’s wife Kim met us and brought us back down to the artist lounge and introduced us to Jack. When we asked if we could take a photo with him, he gladly agreed and my cousin took my phone to take our photos. I remember Jack saying, “Where would be the best place to stand?” And me, with my photography brain, pointed to a spot with the best lighting without even missing a beat. As we take our photo, Jack turns to me and says “this really was a great spot to stand. The lighting was great! You must really have an eye for photography.” This was honestly one of the best compliments I’ve ever gotten, especially since I’m not a professional photographer. <3

November Blogging Challenge: Day 14
An Average Day.
My average day consists of waking up around 7 AM, then getting ready to pick up my little niece by 9AM. We usually spend our mornings running errands and doing grocery shopping, then going home and cooking her lunch and HOPEFULLY getting her down for a nap by 1PM. She usually sleeps for a couple hours, so I take advantage of the time to do other projects or chores around the house. By the time she wakes up, its around 4PM so then I make her a snack and then she plays with her toys or she watches something on her tablet. By 6PM, she’s ready to eat dinner, then afterwards she plays some more before she takes a shower and goes home. I spend the rest of my nights either watching a movie or reading a book before going to bed around 11PM to do it all over the next day.
November Blogging Challenge: Day 13
If I Won The Lottery.
The first thing that I would do if I were ever lucky enough to win the lottery, would be to pay off my the mortgage on my parents’ house. They’ve done so much for me, that being able to do that for them would be a blessing.
Another thing I would do, is buy a large parcel of land, build a large house, and adopt a bunch of animals from shelters and rescues and give them a place where they can run free and spend their days locked up in small cages. I would hire enough staff that would be able to care and feed these animals too.
I would also love to donate money to help clean up and protect our oceans. Now more than ever we need to change our ways to protect our planet, because there is no Planet B. Then if there is any money left over, I would love to use it to travel around the world to experience different cultures and countries.
November Blogging Challenge: Day 10 & 12
A Few Of My Favorite Things/ Things That Make My Day.
First and foremost, MUSIC takes the top spot. I mean, that’s pretty much a given since my name is Melody. But I think that my love for music goes deeper than most peoples. I can’t express how it makes me feel, I just know that without it I would be completely lost.
Secondly, PHOTOGRAPHY. I am, in no way, a professional photographer, but I can take amazing photos. Since I can’t draw, paint, or sculpt, photography is my form of art.
Lastly, I love just LIVING IN THE MOMENT. I know that it can be hard to do with the struggles of every day life, but I believe that if you can take a few minutes everyday just to slow down and enjoy those smaller moments, they can (and will) make your life better.
November Blogging Challenge: Day 9
Best Physical Feature.
This is an easy one for me to blog about because it’s the one that has been commented on since I was in Junior High School: Lips.
I will never forget this moment. I was sitting in my 8th grade math class working on my homework assignment with my group, when all of a sudden the boy sitting across from me says: “You have the most kissable lips I have ever seen. If I didn’t have a girlfriend, I would really like to kiss you right now.”
Ever since then, the amount of guys that have randomly come up to me to compliment my lips has been pretty incredible. :)
November Blogging Challenge: Day 8
Worst Habits.
I have this really bad habit of allowing toxic people back into my life who in the past have taken advantage of me, caused me heartbreak, or fucked with my emotional well-being. I know that I’m not the only person who does this. Now don’t get me wrong. Everyone deserves a second chance, but for anything after that, you have to be able to draw the line somewhere.
Another bad habit I’m guilty of is not telling people what/how I’m feeling. Most of the time I am a very quiet and private person. I don’t like to burden people with what’s going on with my life. I admit that it can be depressing sometimes, but it’s been like this for most of my life and unfortunately it’s what I’m used too.
Despite my bad habits, the only thing I can really do is to learn and grow from them.
