Widespread Panic: Makes Sense To Me, I Must Confess
Ever wondered how a band of grey haired dudes can sell out the Fox Theater in Oakland three nights in a row every single year?
Let’s just say that the music is simply awesome and that air is hazy with smoke.
Widespread Panic is something that we describe here at WhenHappyBlog as an “Easy Good”
Sometimes bands like to make things complex. Other times bands need to do something super different in order to stand out. But Widespread Panic just simply plays and plays well. Their music isn’t hard to get into. Their music is easy to dance to. They use things like regular guitars, bass guitars and lots of percussion.
If you were trying to perfect southern rock music by playing a 3 hour show 4-5 nights a week for 20 some-odd years you’d be pretty good at it too. Most people haven’t have the patience or the luxury to be able to do this. Widespread Panic does.
This video doesn’t do them justice. If justice is what you are looking for, please come out to the Fox Theater this weekend and see these guys.
Watch the old dude on the left rock a guitar solo at 2:15. Smooth and flawless. There will be lots of that this weekend
