Are there any words that describes the feeling of looking back on memories that made you feel loved, happy or hopeful?
懐かしい (Natsukashii) describes the warm, sudden feeling of sentimentality in which small things bring back some old, good memories while one remembers the fondness and goodness of that time.
This Japanese adjective is used to express a longing for the past — it connotes both happiness for the fondness of that memory and goodness of that time, as well as sadness that it is no longer.
Originally described ‘wanting to keep something close, wanting to express fondness for something’ [from 懐く (natsuku), “to get used to and keep close; to become fond of”]. Over time, this word describes reminiscences — of things that bring you suddenly, joyously back to fond memories, with an appreciation of the good times.

Learn from Japanese proverb (kotowaza)
Today’s proverb is:
穴があったら入りたい (ana ga attara hairitai)
穴 ana means HOLE あったら attara comes from ある (aru) which means TO EXIST the たら (tara) conjugation change the meaning into “IF (something) EXIST)” 入りたい hairitai comes from 入る (hairu) which means TO ENTER the たい (tai) conjugation change the meaning into “WANT TO ENTER”
The literal translation is quite obvious. If a hole exist, (I) want to enter
This phrase is used when someone feel so ashamed that they want to hide somewhere.

Kotowaza (Japanese Proverb): 借りてきた猫 (karitekita neko)
借りてきた (karite kita) is made from 借りる (kariru: to borrow) and くる (kuru: to come) and 猫 (neko) is cat.
This proverb express a cat which so well behaved since it’s a borrowed cat. The cat might be wilder in it’s real house. Think about a boy who is so wild at his house but become well behaved in the outside :D
