THROW ME TO THE WOLVES and i will return leading the pack.
between the three of us we have five legs, four eyes and two and a half pairs of working lungs but we also have two dozen eggs so…
Nothing Special. Average. Nothing Special. Nothing. Average. Alone. Drifting off. Away. Stuck. Settle. I love you but I am not in Love with you. Love. Lie. Don't lie to yourself. Who knows if you're lying? Melancholy. Stagnant. I am Stagnant. I do not know how to not be. Be what? What do you want to be when you grow up? Stronger. Surer. Stable. It's okay to be the victim sometimes. Victim. Victim. Victim. Be Strong. Be Stronger. Be Strongest. All that matters is how you handle the situation. Internalize. If you're quiet enough you can hear the corn growing. Be quiet. Quiet. Don't be annoying. Grow up. Forgive and Forget. Forgive never Forget. Forget. I'm Yours. I Will Follow You Into the Dark. Pick ME. Choose ME. Love ME. Courage. He doesn't love you. He doesn't love you. Sigh. Sigh. Sigh. I love you but I'm not in Love with you. Alone. Nothing Special. Stagnant. What's wrong with you? Stop crying! Stop screaming! Leave me alone. Leave me alone. I don't want to be alone. Stop telling me to to stop! Yell at me. Scream at me. Push me over the edge. You scare me in the best way possible. Push me. Push me. But I'm bored. I'm so bored. Tell no one. I stayed at Alex's. I need to go. I'm going to need your help. Push me. Push me. I love you but I'm not in Love with you. I'm Yours. I Will Follow You Into the Dark. My family. You're half right. Is this what having a real girlfriend is like? This is what having a wife is like. Push me. Push me.

In response to being called a slut.
No. You don’t get to call me that.
You are the very last person on this planet who is allowed to call me that.
I spent 3 years of my life dedicated to you.
I loved you.
Did you know that?
Remember that day we were supposed to meet at lunch junior year and talk?
All I wanted to do was fucking talk to you.
Because I wanted to tell you that.
I wanted to finally be done with the fighting and the confusion and the damn guilt that you always dumped on me.
I wanted for us to be happy.
And you did not show up.
You stood me up.
You stood me up and time went on and you pretended like nothing ever happened and all I could do was be pulled along, following your lead.
And then you started bragging about the girls you would “hookup” with.
FYI making out doesn’t constitute as hooking up you over-exaggerating asswipe.
And how you got a girlfriend who none of us ever met, and had no filter when you talked about her in front of me.
That was all fine and dandy; just because you finally got over me and I was still pining after you was no reason for me to be mad at you.
But then, a year and a half after everything I finally found a guy I could spend time with and laugh with and finally forget about you momentarily.
And I felt alive; to be the center of one person’s entire universe is a drug that no pharmaceutical company could ever recreate.
You didn’t like him, but you never gave me much of a reason for it.
But it sure as hell got your attention, and I was part of your world again.
But your world involved inviting me over to your house after school to hang out and me lying to him, because he liked you just as much as you liked him.
But he respected me.
He never got mad at me for hanging out with you or talking to you or pretty much any of the shit that you pulled.
And that was the difference between you and him.
Because the day I told you that I was going out with him, you tore me apart.
Telling me that it was a stupid decision and how I didn’t even think about it.
Telling me that I don’t really like him, that he and I would never work, that I was lying to myself and how you couldn’t be there and support me.
You remember what I did next?
I started crying and begging you.
Telling you that I need you in my life that I could not deal with losing you.
That my entire being would fall apart with you.
And like a seed sown, your words started getting under my skin and I just held on harder to him, telling him I loved him (I didn’t) because that is what he wanted, and I thought he needed, to hear.
And slowly, oh so slowly, and then all at once I realized I was lying to myself and I couldn’t do that.
It was pulling me apart on the inside and it wasn’t just because I was lying to myself but, even worse, I was lying to him.
Pretending that I loved him.
Do not get me wrong I cared for him and I wanted to be with him but he loved me more than I liked him and I couldn’t do it any longer.
So I broke up with him.
And you couldn’t have been happier when I told you, not even an hour after.
You never even asked if I was okay.
And of course I wasn’t because even if I didn’t love him, it didn’t mean that I was torn apart inside.
I had a panic attack that night alone in my room, and I never told anyone.
And you went to prom with someone else, as friends, and I went with someone else, as friends, but she liked you so much and I couldn’t help but be jealous, even though your feelings were completely platonic and she did not know our story.
That night, at the after party, I kissed my best friend to try and get a reaction out of you, but you had already fallen asleep.
And that summer, that summer was a whirlwind because after that we had college and you were going to Arizona and I was moving to the city and our best friends were going hours away.
The night that I realized that my best friends were going away I called him again and we almost hooked up in the back of my car, I was 18 he was 15.
The next time I saw you it was thanksgiving break and we finally all found time between family and airplane flights and road trips to see each other.
We all got together at someone’s house and it felt perfect.
I always thought that one of our best talents was pretending that it hadn’t been months between seeing each other, that no time had passed and nothing ever changed.
I used to pride ourselves on that ability, because it always put off the feeling of any of it being real.
It was a game or one of the books I got sucked into where I was just a visitor in this universe where everything was tumultuous.
And again everything was fine and perfect and then you had to open your big fat mouth and ruin it.
Because you had just come back from college and of course you had to rush a fraternity, and brag about the girls that you brought back to your room to the rest of the guys.
The thing is you always thought that I had sex with him, but I didn’t.
So no you don’t get to call me a slut.
You will never get to call me that.
Not because it’s actually definitively not true.
I could really care less what people call me and say about me.
But because you lost all of your rights of defining me that day when you didn’t show up.
You lost all your rights over me when you continue to break my heart.

Because you are five going on a million
When you are 15 I will be 30
And you are my baby brother
And I will forever feel guilty for running away like my world exploded when you were first created
Like you were gifted with the energy from a dying star and I was the only one to feel the aftershock
You were forged as a gift for our mother
A first born prince to the Queen who fought for her crown and escaped her knight and found a King.
I think about what you will be like when you get older
With our mother's hair and your father's eyes
And whether you inherit Macy's temper or Emily's determination
And what will I give you?
They say that my generation is impatient and that we demand instant gratification
A week ago we were in the emergency room 10 minutes after our older sister accidentally cut her palm open with a knife
And a half hour later a man comes in with his hand encased in gauze and a glove secured with a rubber band
He had gouged his palm 4 hours earlier
Population increases on a J-curve
Gaining momentum and skyrocketing with no end in sight
And you are infinity
Coming into our little family and solidifying it like coal turning into diamond

Los Angeles in the summer and the City of Angels is not kind.
Two decades long and gone has never felt so short and the place I call home has never felt more far away.
An apartment can be the most inescapable of prisons to someone who has the world at their feet.
Graduation seems not long passed but these days seem more frequent and my mind is dripping and mixing with the sweat running down the crevices of my spine.
And why does it always have to be the alcohol?
The acrid smell and the slight burn is liquid sulfur sliding town warming my entire being past the point of no return.
If this apartment is my prison,
then this cheap alcohol is my guard.
"You are wrong if you think joy emanates only or principally from human relationships. God has placed it all around us. It is everything and anything we might experience. We just have to have the courage to turn against our habitual lifestyle and engage in unconventional living." -- Alexander Supertramp.
The think about the wilderness,
is that it is not wilderness.
The truth is that it is a dream,
it is the purest form of this earth.
"Like she stole the very fires from hell" -
that is what parents tell their children at night.
Sirens of the underworld, slinking around street corners in the dead of night. Charismatic, they lure the lonely and the weak. Covered from head to toe in black, hiding the very glow they were blessed with.
They are called demons, and monsters.
The mortals are terrified, so they deny the very existence, they turn them into fairy tale villains.
They were wrong to do so.

The echo was a canon boom with every step, it was fire and smoke and everything that I survived.
But this wasn’t supposed to be me. I am not my mother and I am not my sister.
I am not meant to lead. I am meant to kill, to defend, to conquer. More my father than my mother.
There are no secrets here. Every word echoes down the hall, every movement amplified. It is not safe. It is not safe I tell everyone, they tell me that everything is okay. That I am safe, I am where I belong. I beg them to leave me, that I am not safe. So I hide my dagger in my dress sleeves, a sword between my mattresses, an axe in my wardrobe.
And how is it that I survived alone on the battlefield. Wading through battles, of brother fighting brother, father fighting son, and I this girl of only ten and three with mud on my boots and blood on my face. Fighting a war that was bubbling before my birth.
How is it that I was safer there then my family was in this castle?
I looked over the balcony. Down onto the marble that will forever retain the heat from the blood that graced its surface. Blood of my blood. Meraina says that it’s the sun that heats these walls but I know better.
The notion that my sister flung herself over the edge at the news of mother’s downfall seems more plausible every day that I walk these halls. Always prim, always proper. There is still rebellion in the streets but I am not to partake in the keeping (or attempt at keeping) the peace. I must be a symbol, a symbol of strength and of serenity, a promise that this war will be over and that all will be well sooner rather than later.
They tell me that I am safe. But I am not. No one is, no one will ever be.
It happened slowly
but all at once.
They say that when you face a trauma if happens in slow motion,
a cocktail of hormones and neurotransmitters that are out of control,
a survival mechanism gifted by those who made you.
But it doesn't happen like that.
Thinking back you don't remember anything.
Except the darkness (the cold terrible darkness, it's coming, it's coming),
dripping down your vision.
And that is all.
No colors.
No shapes.
No faces.
Just black (is it black? or is it nothing? what color is nothingness?),
never-ending darkness, dripping down your whole being.
