No, no no… you identify bone from rock or other substances by touching it to your tongue. If it sticks, it’s bone. The taste itself has nothing to do with it. And most archaeologists won’t lick human bones if they know they’re human.

It’s really bizarre to watch this from a late season POV. Sam has such an acute awareness of their relationship in that moment and actually voices it, and that never really happens again. He never gives Dean another ultimatum like this.
I don’t know if it’s meant to imply that this is worst Dean’s ever treated him (or that Sam feels that it is), or rather that Sam fundamentally changes how he sees Dean and his actions. There was always a lot of glorification and apotheosis going on, but in the later seasons Sams loses any realistic assessment of his relationship to Dean beyond ‘it’s codependant’.
If Destiel wasn’t about sex for you, but rather a severely depressed man with suicidal tendencies and an angel who felt like he never belonged finally accepting the love that they never thought they deserved, clap your hands!
