have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.

There are some things that are always true; universal truths I like to call them.

Somewhere in this grand universe of infinite possibilities and endless ways lives can take shape, some things are ALWAYS happening, regardless.

Somewhere, always; someone is falling in love for the first time 🥰

Somewhere always; a child feels safe and loved and held as their parents scoop them into proud arms. They are being loved and honoured the way all children should be.

Somewhere, always; someone just petted their first dog, and it was amazing 😃

And, most importantly?

Somewhere, always; House and Wilson are still having lunch together. Infinitely. Perfectly. Endlessly. Time never ends, and their laughter never stops. They are ALWAYS there, in this perfect moment. House is reaching across the table and stealing a fry off Wilson’s plate, and Wilson is laughing so freely, and with such joy. The kind of laughter his lonely childhood and early years would considered impossible. He's laughing until his whole face is scrunchy in a way it never scrunches for anyone else. And House is flashing a quick cheeky grin. A mischievous glean, the very one that was so harshly disaplined during his childhood. Yet he wears it loud and proud, presently, forever here in this moment with Wilson, the only person who's ever truly accepted him for who is is, who's offered him unconditional love, who has never asked him to change. And damn, does he love Wilson right back. In infinite ways. Impossible ways. The two of them need not say this though, for it exceeds words. Humans have not invented numbers high enough to count all the skies in the sky, and this, what they have, here and now and forever, transcends all limits of language in just the same way. Wilson says it with his laugh. House says it as he steals another french fry. They're laughing about something totally irrelevant. They're talking about nothing - and yet, they're talking about everything. Immeasurable, absolute, boundless, and eternal. What they have simply cannot be stopped by limited, flawed, Earthy concepts like time, death, ageing, illness, or change.

Somewhere, always, House and Wilson are still having lunch together; and they always will be.
