accidental workhand [ Candace / Fritz ]
âAw, shucks - you donât have to thank me at all for that, yanno,â Fritz smiled at her fondly, his hand already patting the side of the small alpaca who now nuzzled more affectionately for how happy it was to have attention. âI love animals, I never get to work with them enough!â
He was already lit up from chasing the hoofed creature around, red faced and happy for the burst of energy to even get himself up in the morning. But her suggestion lit a fire under up.
Fritz snapped his attention to her with more enthusiasm than he even thought he was capable of that early in the morning.
âYeah!â he started in immediately, leaning against the fence posting instead. âThat sounds stupendous! Not even a maybe, thatâs a definite yeah! I can even help if you wantââ he grinned to her, bouncing on his heels. âI could finish early and help out with any sewing, too! Iâm pretty good at it, I promiseâ! I bet the animalsâll be ready long before noon, anyways, and then we could hang out!âŞâ
Candace giggled, refusing to look directly at him; if she hadnât been embarrassed enough at his compliment, it was just as embarrassing to have so much of his attention all at once like that! Not that sheâd expected anything differentâ pretty much any mention of food around her accidental workhand resulted in this sort of response. Still, she wasnât sure sheâd ever get used to someone directing quite so much hunger at her.
âWellââ
His offer to help was a lot more appealing than she wanted to admit. Sheâd heard once or twice already how good his sewing was, by now. Really it was her own stubbornness to accept help that had kept Fritz out of her needlework for as long as she couldâ but it was hard to argue with just how much he had helped her already. And how much he still could.
âWell, maybe.. weâll see. Lunch first, and then we can talk. But.. hanging out should be okay, I guess.â She smiled, shaking her head. âI miss getting to chat over work, anyway.â
She shrugged - then took a step back, wiggling her fingers in a small wave goodbye. âOkay.. let me get started. The sooner I go, the sooner lunch will come, right?â At that she turned, heading in the direction of the tailor shop - feeling surprisingly good to leave the farm in Fritzâs hands for the time being.
