The jazz scene in London is so exciting, filled with young talented luminaries. Other players and bands get more hype, but Seed Ensemble led by alto saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi in a 10 piece Afro-Futurism album called Driftglass has won me over like nothing else! Dazzling music, terrific spoken word/rap woven into texture that is modern, fierce, lyrical, and incorporates great writers such as Langston Hughes and Samuel R. Delaney. I love that people are reaching out on this 1st #BourdainDay to offer mental health awareness, as well as to share stories & the lasting positive impacts Tony gave to his viewers, readers, and to his restaurant peers. I played a small role in getting this day noticed by our stalwart mental health professionals at the LSU Musicians’ Clinic and 504HealthNet.org. 5 Countries Control 70% of the World’s Remaining Wilderness

This map and chart, from EcoWatch, pertains to a study that was published in the journal Nature and that was described in one of my posts earlier today. Essentially, the study tells us that 77% of land, excluding Antarctica, and 87% of oceans, has been modified by human activity, and that 70% of the remaining wilderness is situated in Canada, Russia, the US, Brazil and Australia.
