You hadn't even slipped your jacket off when you got home before the phone rang on the wall. You had been out with Robin and Nancy, having dinner and seeing a movie, while Eddie had his gig at The Hideout. Usually, you'd be with him, but this girl's night had been planned for weeks, and the opening at The Hideout was only given to Corroded Coffin a few days ago. Eddie had told you it was fine, that you could miss one show to hang out with your friends.
You move towards the ringing phone, leaning against the wall it's perched on as you hold it to your ear. "Hello? Munson Household."
You hear a relieved sigh over the phone, muffled by loud music and people chattering. It's Jeff, and he's immediately rambling into the phone.
"You need to get here. Eddie's gone off the rails and he drank way too much. He keeps talking about you in ways we never wanted to hear—just, please, come get him." Jeff is barely done rambling when you hear the phone being shuffled.
"Baby?" Despite it, you smile at the sound of Eddie's voice. "I's loves you—" He sighs into the dreamily, and you can't help but stifle a laugh.
"Eddie, I'm coming to get you, okay?" You hear him whine over the phone, saying something about 'having fun.' You smile anyway, before continuing. "I'll see you soon, okay? Give the phone back to Jeff." He grumbles, but you hear the phone being passed back.
"Thank you. You are a saint." Jeff speaks before the two of you end the call. You head back to the door, slipping the shoes you had just taken off back on.
When you park outside The Hideout, the place is buzzing. There are a few groups of people lingering outside, but you push past them to get inside. You are bombarded by whichever band is playing up there now, loud drums echoing and you can feel the rhythm in your chest.
Your eyes roam the dive bar, searching for a familiar pair of eyes or that curly mop on his head. You see Jeff first and he immediately waves you over. In front of him is Eddie, gesturing wildly, no doubt telling some ridiculous tale.
Eddie doesn’t hear or see you as you approach him. You wrap your arms around him, voice soft as you interrupt his story. “Guess who?”
He turns immediately at the feeling of your touch, no doubt that he hadn’t registered your words because he looked half tempted to curse you out. His expression softens exponentially, his grin widening.
“Baby!” He slurs slightly, his arms tightening around you as he stumbles closer. “Missed you. When dids yous get here?”
You try not to laugh, your smile widening as you steady your boyfriend. Pushing him slightly to get a good look at him. Eddie preens under your gaze, already trying to lean back in to your hold.
“I just got here. We’re going home, okay?” You tell him softly, watching as he begins to frown, shaking his head in a way that resembles a stubborn child.
“But the fun is just starting—“ Eddie tries to argue, turning to reach for his beer when Gareth swipes it out from his hand, giving him a stern look.
“Honey, you look like you’ve been having fun for the better part of the whole evening.” You say softly, hands sliding up his back in what is supposed to be a comforting move. Eddie turns back to you, brown eyes wide with affection.
“But now you’re here. It’ll be even more fun.” It’s obvious Eddie is doing his best to convince you, and an amused grin falls on your lips as you shake your head.
“We should go home, Eddie.” You say softly, tilting your head in a way you know he can’t resist. You feel his large hands slide down your back and squeeze your hips, a surprised laugh leaving your lips. But before you can say anything Eddie leans down to your ear, voice deep.
“Oh, it’s like that?” He drags his nose down the line of your neck, the whiskey on his breath infiltrating your senses. Despite his obvious suggestiveness, you use this as a tactic to get home, quickly nodding your head.
“You should say goodbye. I left the car running.”
Eddie turns at your words, barely giving the boys a passing glance, just nodding at them before turning on his heels to drag you out of the bar. You laugh under your breath, doing your best to keep up with him. However, his eagerness is only his downfall as he nearly falls off the curb, causing you to laugh louder.
When he turns to pout at you, you playfully roll your eyes, wrapping your arm around his back, his on your shoulder, to steady him.
“Let’s get you to the car, ‘kay?” He follows your lead, stumbling only slightly until you get him situated in the passenger seat of your beat up red truck. When you lean inside the car to buckle him, you aren’t even shocked to feel his hand cup your ass. Your eyes shoot up to him, smacking his hand away with a laugh. “No funny business—“
Eddie whines. Like a child. With a full pout on his face.
“I’m serious, Eddie.”
“Me too!”
You roll your eyes, a small smile tugging at your lips before you shut his door, walking around to the driver’s side and getting in. “Are you ready to go home now?” You glance up as you speak, only to find Eddie somehow fast asleep. A fond look overtakes your features and you twist the key in the ignition, heading home.
