“You can believe what you want and I will continue on with what I know. Though… … Ruby, there is something you must know. I’m certain you remember the scream from the forest, right?”
Taking out her phone once again, she flipped through some recorded messages before pulling up a certain one. She then handed the flip phone over to Ruby, silently watching him with those cold blue eyes.
“This is the dying message of the man who was murdered not ten minutes ago. He left me his dying wish of capturing the murderer with these words. Press enter on the center of the circle pad.”
Ruby’s face changed from irritated to pissed. He so had enough of this! He didn’t want to be part of this yet he kept having the feeling this woman was almost forcing him to be part of it someway or another. But no way Ruby would accept anything!
With a frustrated push, he pushed the phone back to her without listening to the message.
“I don’t care what this guy’s dying wish is! I don’t even know him so why should I care? Just bring me to that place you mentioned and then leave me the fuck alone!”
“So you’re going to ignore the dead then, hm? Pitiful boy... No respect whatsoever... You will not go very far acting in such a way. Some day you will realize.”
She wasn’t impressed with this boy at all and there was no way she’d be taking this disrespectful youth anywhere. So, instead, she called up Little Guy so that he’d be taking him to wherever it was so that she wouldn’t have to look at that sorry face again.
“Ms. Kimishima! Sorry I took so long getting here. Huh...? You’re that boy... Oh, never mind! Er, hey Ruby was it? I’m Little Guy. I’m going to be taking you to wherever it was. Now if you don’t mind following me.”
The 16th (gif/icon) in your folder is your muse's reaction to realizing that they’re gay.
“If it is death that you are so afraid of, then you no longer have a reason to fear. If you are so terrified of it, then do as you wish and stay behind. The dead have spoken, and i have heard all that I need to hear. If it helps your situation… After having a few more articles analyzed, we will have reached our conclusion, and the voices of those who have passed will soon be made known.”
Slowly, she turned around and let her arms relax at ease by her sides once again. Lightly closing her eyes, she lightly murmured to herself, sighing softly as well.
“I wonder what the souls of the dead are experiencing… … Hm… I will know for myself very soon…”
Ruby almost looked dumbfounded at her. “If you are already that far, then you don’t need my help.” He shot back. “And I’m not afraid to die. I just can’t afford to do so right now. I still have a lot of things I need to do.” Becoming a Gym Leader was only one of those things. Even though that was his number one goal right now.
Ruby shook his head, letting out a sigh himself. Why did this had to happen today?
“Dead people are dead. They don’t feel anything after they passed away. At least, that’s what I think.”
“You can believe what you want and I will continue on with what I know. Though... ... Ruby, there is something you must know. I’m certain you remember the scream from the forest, right?”
Taking out her phone once again, she flipped through some recorded messages before pulling up a certain one. She then handed the flip phone over to Ruby, silently watching him with those cold blue eyes.

“… If it interests you, I happen to have the odds in my favour… An anonymous tip that will greatly assist us in our case.”
She glanced at Ruby for a second. They seemed to be quite the opposite. Naomi appeared as this calm woman with flowing silver hair and eyes of Bleu de France. This young boy… He was fiery and passionate at heart that matched his eyes and burnt black hair. If there was one thing they had in common, it was their attire composed of shades of scarlet and obsidian. He could make an interesting accomplice if he were to get clearance and were to accept the request.
“You seem like you would be less distracted than Little Guy… Plus, the man doesn’t do as much field work as I, and is much more capable of analyzing evidence. You may refuse my offer… But this will let you get to your destination faster and much safer… So long as you assist me in return.”
“Hmmm.” Was all Ruby murmured when hearing she had to odds in her favor. Though he was worried about a serial killer running loose, the information she just gave him was of no concern to him.
His eyes narrowed. He? Assisting her in this serial killer case? What was she thinking? He was just a kid! He didn’t feel like acting like a piece of decoy either.
“No, thanks. Sounds like a drag. I just wait till the killer is back behind bars.” Ruby responded with a sigh. “Besides, I’m still a kid. You sure got guts asking me to assist you. I’m not willing to take any risks here and get killed in the process.”
“If it is death that you are so afraid of, then you no longer have a reason to fear. If you are so terrified of it, then do as you wish and stay behind. “I wonder what the souls of the dead are experiencing... ... Hm... I will know for myself very soon...”
“Stay in Resurgam First Care, the Hospital not too far behind. I have not been given clearance to reveal any information regarding this case… The only ones who can be relied on are the dead. They know who in fact is responsible for this.”
She picked up her phone and began to guide him away from the area. It wasn’t that she had a problem with seeing any more corpses- she had seen four today, but for his own family. She had learned a lot from Alyssa about families… But in any case, this area was dangerous. The “FBI” had warned her that the killer was in the area… And that she’d be seeing her fifth corpse today.
“Hurry, there isn’t much time.”
Resurgam First Care? That was the first time Ruby heard about that. No matter. His biggest problem was that he now had to take a detour before he could actually go to the city he wanted to visit in the first place. Not only that but with this serial killer on the loose, Ruby asked himself how long he actually had to stay there.
Letting out a deep sigh, Ruby reluctantly followed her, a pout visible on his face. This was not going according to his plans! “Yeah, yeah. I’m coming…” He muttered.
“… If it interests you, I happen to have the odds in my favour… An anonymous tip that will greatly assist us in our case.”

“I suggest you heed my warning. A Serial Killer has broken out of prison and has begun to go on a rampage. I have seen dead bodies all day, and another one won’t bother me. When I warn you, this is for your own safety. Go if you wish, I am no longer going to try to stop you, but be on guard.”
She gave Ruby a stern look, not liking his decision to go any further. If he ended up dead, that was his own problem, and if she would up having to do an autopsy on a teenager, that was her own problem. He had been warned and that was all.
Hearing there was a serial killer on the loose made Ruby stop in his tracks. He could panic, but what use would that be? Turning his head, he looked at the woman again. “So that serial killer targets kids like me then?” He asked. It was obvious Ruby didn’t want to fell victim to this serial killer but he still had his doubts.
“And is anyone really safe when a serial killer is on the loose? Where do you suggest travelling people should hide?”
“Stay in Resurgam First Care, the Hospital not too far behind. I have not been given clearance to reveal any information regarding this case... The only ones who can be relied on are the dead. They know who in fact is responsible for this.”

“N-no… You…! -but what are you..!! AAAAAGHH!!!
The final words of this individual rang through her head, causing her to think how it was connected to the case as they ran far away from the scene. So Claire had heard the scream of the person out loud… They were dangerously close to where this happened. The continued running for what seemed like hours and eventually landed themselves at the front steps of Resurgam. She continued in with the girl then sat her at the front utterance. They were much more safe here. Once again, she flipped open her phone and proceeded to call an individual known as “Little Guy”.
“… … Little Guy, do you mind?… … Yes, he is… … Keep an eye out. Meet me at Resurgam… … Yes, I have gathered as much… … Don’t waste your breath. Just hurry.”
Claire kept looking around herself and over her shoulder when they had arrived outside and Naomi was promptly distracted by another phone call. Seriously, what was it with her and that phone? Whatever; Claire currently had two things on her mind: keeping away from some killer, and finding Hank. The possibility of calling him had crossed her mind, but was quickly dismissed. It was possible that drawing extra attention to him would be really bad, and she didn’t want to risk it.
She also kept looking back at Naomi, who seemed to have a pretty good idea what was going on; sticking with her seemed to be the safest option, oddly enough. Doubly odd considering neither of them had even introduced themselves yet, but they hadn’t exactly had time… and they still probably didn’t.
“Hey, girl... Hank is on the third floor if you want to speak with him. I am not going to question why he is in the supply closet, but...”
Her phone once again returned to her pocket. She paid no mind to Claire. There was one job she had to do, and in order to do it she had to stay alive. She had no desire to die, especially not when there were souls who had passed on who were relying on her- the one to have heard their pleas. Now all she had to do was wait for Little Guy to show up and do his part. When she was on the scene, she had gathered a few objects which she wanted analyzed by him-- the supposed expert.
“I have more important things to do right now...”
“If you are uncomfortable with me taking you there, I could have someone- ?”
She was stopped mid sentence as her phone suddenly began to vibrate in her pocket. It was sudden and out of the blue, though Naomi didn’t look surprised in the least for some strange reason. She knew that this meant that the serial killer was near, and that he was armed and ready to kill. Quickly she grabbed onto Claires wrist and begun to walk off with her as she flipped open her phone to answer it. It had a glow to it that only she was able to see, and the glow wasn’t ever a good sign. She quietly listened to what the voice had to say as she and the girl hurriedly walked down the path.
“Yes, I have her. We are on our way, Hank… And for her sake, act surprised… I think she’ll like it…”
Her voice was very hushed, trying to pretend like this was some big secret. In a way, it was. Who had called wasn’t Hank at all, but the last words of an individual who had passed on. This was very concerning and they had to leave right away.
It was a shock when Naomi suddenly stopped mid-sentence, grabbed her, and took off. If she hadn’t been uncomfortable before – which, she had – she sure was now… but for some reason, her instincts told her to keep quiet, and thankfully, she chose to obey.
What the heck? This is not the time to be answering your phone, lady!
Naomi’s words confused her even more. Before she could start to get too paranoid about her, however, she heard an odd sound – like a muffled scream – from the area they had just left. Suddenly, staying with this stranger seemed like her safest option she decided, paling but forcing herself to match Naomi’s pace. Whatever had caused that scream, it was pretty clear that they ought to get as far from it as possible.
“N-no... You...! -but what are you..!! AAAAAGHH!!!

“... ... Little Guy, do you mind?... ... Yes, he is... ... Keep an eye out. Meet me at Resurgam... ... Yes, I have gathered as much... ... Don’t waste your breath. Just hurry.”
“Unfortunately, you are going to have to come with me. We have a serial murderer on the loose and it is my job to see to it that another individual has their life cut short. Sigh… Come with me, and I will take you there myself.”
She herself had seen many dead bodies today, and another one wouldn’t bother her in the slightest, but if what she said was true, and that she was an acquaintance of Hank, then this dead body would greatly trouble a friend… And she did owe him one. She would then be doing this for Hank, and not for the girl.
“Tell me where it is you need to be and I will guide you.”
Claire couldn’t help the shock and a bit of fear running down her spine as she glanced around them. She didn’t see anything unusual… other than this woman. Who she really wasn’t sure she should be going with. Like, how did she know this lady wasn’t the killer? …Well… if she was the friend of someone Hank trusted, Claire decided, she probably wasn’t a serial killer.
“If this is some kind of curse, I can’t tell if the universe loves or hates me…”
She mumbled this while looking away from Naomi. She had had two extremely close brushes with death already. On the one hand, she’d miraculously survived twice, but on the other… she’d very nearly died twice. She really didn’t want to test her luck here. The bullet wound had actually healed quite cleanly and with no further complications, but the casts on her arm and leg were unfortunate reminders of the first time…
“I’ve gotta see Dr. Freebird…! He’s probably… in his office or doing surgery.”
Having heard from Maria how Hank had been shot twice and still kept going with seemingly no problem, it wasn’t quite as terrifying as it could have been… but still, she couldn’t stand the thought of him being killed.
“If you are uncomfortable with me taking you there, I could have someone- ?”

“Oh yes, and Little Guy? Be quick about it.”
She closed her phone and held it tightly in her hand, quietly staring at it before glancing at the irritable child, coldly and emotionlessly. It was almost like she didn’t have a soul, just a duty that needed to be fulfilled. Kids like this were the worst in her opinion, though she would never say a word about it. Not to Boss, not to Little Guy, not to Alyssa.
“Speak when you are spoken to. Little Guy is coming over as we speak. He will take you where you need to so that the evidence remains undisturbed. Now I suggest that you– …?”
The phone that the woman held began to vibrate, as though it were receiving a call. At the same time, the air was filled with a very tense aura, a heavy one of dread and death. She answered the phone, holding it to her ear silently, listening to the other end without a word.
“… … … Understood.”
Ruby continued walking away from the scene, ignoring everything that was behind said behind his back. He didn’t have anything to do with this. He was just passing by and would be on his way again. Taking out his Pokenav, the teen looked for another route to the city he was heading to. A deep sigh left his lips.
“Great. Seems like I have to walk an entire day before I reach the city. And that while I’m running low on food.” Trainers running low on food was not good at all.

“That name does reignite a flame somewhere within my heart, but flame was last lit many moons ago. Freebird… The last time I heard that name was… Yes. I remember him from a previous investigation and… If not for him, Alyssa would not have made it. Dr. Freebird… I have not seen him for a very long time.”
Naomi folded her arms over her chest before closing her eyes and lowering her head slightly. The name fit the face perfectly. The kind gentle giant that saved the life of a child, knowing that it might cost his own. A true hero and role model that was worth looking up to despite what others might have thought.
“If it is any help, I will have Little Guy take you to where you need to go. It just might help me on my current investigation as well…”
…What a weirdo.
Truthfully, that’s what Claire thought, accidentally giving Naomi a funny look to match. Flames, moons? Who was Alyssa? ‘Little Guy’? The woman had gone from ‘scary lady who talked about corpses’ to ‘complete weirdo’ quite quickly. ‘Investigation’ caught her attention though. Was the woman some sort of… police officer? Health inspector? Who knew.
“I can probably find him myself if you tell me the way…” It probably had directories and stuff, so as long as he was somewhere that wasn’t, say, off-limits to patients and visitors, she could probably find him.
“Unfortunately, you are going to have to come with me. We have a serial murderer on the loose and it is my job to see to it that another individual has their life cut short. Sigh... Come with me, and I will take you there myself.”

“Can I help you…?”
Naomi had turned around moments after the impact, now looking down at the individual calmly and coldly. She was currently on a case, and was more or less brainstorming at the given moment. Sometimes, a couple hours to ones self could do wonders. Ah yes, she had seen this child before. With that hulky man with Elvis-like hair, narrowed eyes, and an exotic skin tone. She must have been Claire. Naomi had overheard people talk about her– an interesting child to say the least. The phone that was in her hand returned to her pocket and her hands had retreated to her sides, staring down the child, wondering what she would say in return.
“No, I’m fine… uh…”
Claire faltered for a moment before finally deciding she was being ridiculous. This lady was kind of freaking her out, but… whatever, right? It’s not like she was talking about corpses because she’d murdered the people – odd though her nonchalance had stricken Claire.
“Actually, I’m kind of looking for Dr. Freebird… Have you seen him?”
“That name does reignite a flame somewhere within my heart, but flame was last lit many moons ago. Freebird... The last time I heard that name was... Yes. “You’re…”
Claire looked up at the woman she had bumped into – physically, having not been paying attention as she rounded a corner. (In her defense, being on a crutch didn’t exactly help her to be the most agile person in the world.) The woman was a bit intimidating to her, though. She had seen her once… talking to Hank’s puffy haired friend about a corpse. Yikes. It hadn’t occurred to her that the woman could be a medical examiner, of course, making it even more odd.
“Um. Never mind. Sorry.”
“Can I help you...?”
Naomi had turned around moments after the impact, now looking down at the individual calmly and coldly. She was currently on a case, and was more or less brainstorming at the given moment. The woman let out a soft sigh as she flipped open her phone in a casual manner, dialing up an individual before holding the device up to her ear. She wasn’t exactly fond of children, but she didn’t mind them. For some reason, they would flock around her as though she were her mother. Alyssa was a young girl who was no exception, though she wasn’t to be seen. Naomi had scolded her as well, telling her that it wasn’t safe to follow her around while she worked, simply for her own safety. Anyways, she spoke quietly into the phone while looking to the side.
“Little guy, do you have a moment? Yes, another person who walked in on the scene. Yes, it is, and I agree completely. I will have him escorted to you. Send me the results.”
An irritated sigh left Ruby’s lips. Yes, he was rather small for his age, but that didn’t mean people could call him ‘little’! Turning around with an angry pout, Ruby glared at her. “I’m sixteen! And no, I do not have a moment. I wanna go to the next town as soon as possible.” The teen grumbled, turning on his heel again and walked away again.
He did not wanted to be part of this and would refuse to be part of it. No matter what she would do or say to him.
“Oh yes, and Little Guy? Be quick about it.”
She closed her phone and held it tightly in her hand, quietly staring at it before glancing at the irritable child, coldly and emotionlessly. A woman with silver hair that flowed like the wind approached the child slowly, phone in hand and emotionless face. Her appearance was very professional, clean cut, and almost ghostly. Naomi’s oceanic aqua eyes landed on Ruby, gazing upon him quietly as she reached into her pocket to withdraw her cell phone. She was rather peculiar looking at first glance, but she also looked like a woman that knew how to get things done.
“Move aside. This is the scene of a murder and must remain untouched by the hands of the living. The dead shall speak, and in order for us to hear them we must respect their final moments on Earth.”
