On collecting art

When you buy art, you’re buying not an object, but an experience that can be relived over and over again for generations to come. A painting is not as fleeting or forgotten as an internet meme, or the latest technological form of entertainment. It can’t be deleted from your phone or lost in the timeline of your social media accounts. The simplicity, physicality, tactile and personal experience of a piece of art is forever. Like diamonds they say, not from the earth, but from the human soul.

Millennials: A generation afraid of imposed structure and routine. Out with limits, old paradigms and labels. But, when we finally decide on a path and design how we want to live, it sets the stage for creativity of the unseen. Change will happen at lightening speeds.

Birthdays in your late twenties consist of a normal day, the awkwardness of irrational expectation, responding to hoards of facebook messages, and the gentle understanding that yes, for no reason at all, life is incredibly beautiful.

The way to live a “life worth living” is to live it from your heart. You must throw out the concept of right and wrong, good and bad, sinful and saintly and begin to discover your own personal truth that is not influenced by anyone or anything (as long as it does not physically hurt you or others, the sky is the limit).

As is well known, falling in love often leads to emotional and physiological instability. You bounce between exhilaration, euphoria, increased energy, sleeplessness, loss of appetite, trembling, a racing heart and accelerated breathing, as well as anxiety, panic and feelings of despair when your relationship suffers even the smallest setback. These mood swings parallel the behavior of drug addicts. And indeed, when in-love people are shown pictures of their loved ones, it fires up the same regions of the brain that activate when a drug addict takes a hit. Being in love, researchers say, is a form of addiction.

She had a certain indefinable something. A quiet confidence. I could not quite put my finger on it. Perhaps it was her chosen way of dress, the way she wore her hair. Maybe it was her air of walking, for there was certainly that. Or it could be her eyes. Yes her eyes. In her eyes there was fire, and ice. Oh they were strong, yet subtle. Powerful, yet soft. Oh yes she was a Tomboy. And the most feminine Lady I'd ever seen.
