🍑 A fanfiction writer and doodler! I create content I've had circling my mind for years. The fandom I like to create cute, slice-of-life content for is Hetalia, specifically for the personified versions of the nations. (Note: This blog is a politics-free zone!)

Arthur froze as he was drying the dish with a kitchen towel. His eyes stared straight ahead and his brows furrowed as he tried to process what his wife had just said.
“I beg your pardon?” he asks Kat, turning his torso to face her.
“I think it’d be a great idea,” she says, spoon-feeding a bit of chilled yogurt to their little girl.
Arthur set the dish aside, tossing the rag over his shoulder and leaning onto the table with both of his hands.
“What do you mean Alfred's going to babysit her?”
“Exactly that.”
“You plan on leaving them alone?? As in completely unsupervised?!?”
“You don't care that I planned a date night for us and found us a sitter..?” Kat's voice trails off in a sweeter tone, trying to mitigate any meltdowns before they start, as she helps Amelia with the yogurt that missed the inside of her mouth.
“Thank you, love. I appreciate that you did it and I look forward to a night off, but Katherine… You're talking about the man who forgets to change his underwear daily. How on earth do you expect him to take care of Amelia? You want her to die?”
“Arthur, honey. Sweetheart. I think you're being a bit dramatic”
“Dramatic?! I'm not-”
“Francis trusted me with Mattie. Alone. I think Alfred can handle Amelia for a little bit.”
“Kat,” he groaned, “I don't think you and Alfred share the same instincts. And that's what scares me. I know my brother. I know what he's capable of. And taking care of a small child is not in his capabilities. He’s going to-! Oh god, Katherine, he’s going to give her diabetes.”
Arthur puts a hand to his forehead and the other on his hip as he realizes a possibility he hadn't thought of before. Kat slumps back in her chair, annoyed by her drama queen of a husband and his lack of perspective.
“I think you're overthinking this. I’ll write everything down for him so he has a reference for emergencies, what to give her and what to avoid, her sleeping schedule. Don't worry. We’ll have everything ready for him.”
“You forget that he doesn't read everything. He just skims through the text and finds keywords.”
“No that's not… true…”, she hoped, “Do I need to also make one of those trendy videos then to get his attention?”
Arthur exhaled and closed his eyes shut as he looked away from her less than confident face. She knew it was a bad idea too. Why couldn't she just admit it?
“Let's just hire a babysitter. I'd be more comfortable with that," he offered.
“I'm not! I don't want a teenager I don't know watching over Amelia. With Alfred, I know she is at least comfortable around him. And that makes it easier for me…” she pouted defensively.
“Aaaahhh~” the baby cutely vocalized as her head was leaning as close to the yogurt as her tiny lips could reach.
“Oh my goodness! You’re already ready for another bite!” Kat smiled and fed her another spoonful as she watched her daughter enjoy the morning treat. “You’re so adorable this morning, yes you are!”
Arthur turned to watch Kat with Amelia with both hands on his hips and a conflicting feeling in his chest. The lump of whether to go with his head or his heart seemed to sit right at the back of his throat.
“Is there really no one else who could watch her?”
“There's no one else I’d want to babysit her.”
“Really. Not even your siblings?”
“They're halfway around the world. Why would I ask them to fly out just to watch her?”
“I really,” he sighs yet again, trying to hold back on raising his voice, “don't feel comfortable with Alfred.”
“It's just during the night. They should be asleep during most of it. And if not, Alfred can keep her entertained. It'll be fine.”
“…Alright. For the sake of keeping Amelia comfortable, I’m going to trust your judgement on this. I don't agree with it, but I will have to just accept it”
“The fact that you doubted me in the first place is a red flag, Kirkland,” Kat said cheekily.
“I would never- No! I didn't! I- Darling, I'm sorr-,” Arthur stuttered.
“Dismissed!”
Arthur's lips pursed as he held back from saying anything else and returned to the dishes at hand, a warm pink flushing his cheeks as he grumbled over all the ways Alfred was bound to prove himself unworthy.
Seeing the seething big baby, Kat quickly slides her way over to him and kisses his cheek as she slips the baby spoon into the sink.
“Love you, honey,“ she says sweetly, pressing her cheek against his and giving him a hug to neutralize the ticking time bomb in his mind.
“I love you too, darling. But you will hear me complaining for a long time.”

Side Effects, my beloved, is a EngUkr story (mostly) that showcases Arthur and Kat's domestic life together. (Another EngUkr family fic? Shocker. I know. 😉)
In this story, Arthur and Kat are trying to start a family of their own. After some unfavorable outcomes, they grow disheartened with every doctor's visit, especially Kat who doubts that it will ever happen. Arthur sees how much of a toll it takes on Kat and wishes to "ease the burden for her". When Kat does become pregnant, there are some... side effects that they experience.
Essentially, the way I think of this story is that there is a side effect to love, whether it is romantic, platonic, familial, or even fake altogether. Sometimes you fall deeply and fall hard, sometimes it breaks you and makes you stronger.
Side Effects may include: headaches, nausea, heartburn, inexplicable soreness, loss of appetite, anxiety from reuniting with estranged family, heart palpitations, depression, thoughts of suicide, and possible death.

Fun fact: Color Vision, a snippet I posted in December 2024 about Alfred's Christmas gift from EngUkr, was written as part of the Side Effects main story line. So, if you've read it, you've already read a small piece of Side Effects. 😊

In the meantime, what’s going on with The Detangler? That sounds fun XD
Ooh~! The Detangler is a lot tamer than it sounds. Haha.
It’s a short, domestic, slice-of-life snippet of EngUkr and their daughter, Amelia* (who I personally just love including in their little family when Alfred is not around) interacting on a random afternoon when everyone is home. From simple things like pulling apart knots in a string his daughter brought to him to more complex things like unraveling the mystery behind his wife’s woes, Arthur tackles the tasks of detangling things in his family, hence his title of “The Detangler”.
In my mind, Arthur is a natural over-thinker and terribly harsh self-critic, however I think he can have his moments where making sure his girls are alright takes priority. I like to believe that he can remain level-headed enough to help untangle his family’s worries before they fester and become his worries. And this snippet is just that. It’s meant to show his caring side, but also a side of him where he’s going to tackle a problem as soon as he spots it. He’s a fixer upper, but he’s also the fixer-upper… If that makes sense.
Now I’m curious to know what you expected from a title like “The Detangler” 😉
(*Note: I headcanon the daughter name to be Amelia as an homage to Alfred, but moreso because I think Uncle Alfred calling her Ames is really cute.)

Watching: the aforementioned movie was Peaky Blinders: the Immortal Man (be warned, the soundtrack was the best thing about it)
Reading: just started on Ciao amore, Ciao by Nicola Lagioia (which is the Polish translation of an Italian crime non fiction book, which has a different title in Italian. I think it's such an interesting choice to change the title in the POLISH translation to something else in ITALIAN. like if you wanted a title in Italian, there was one right there already. But I digress). The Blazing World by Margaret Cavendish is my current read from the library, which I ought to finish and return soon. And also Pakistan Lost which was given to me by a friend who keeps asking about my progress, so I gotta get on that too. Last book I actually finished was Jane Eyre, first time reading it, and I completely loved it! My girl Jane has never done anything wrong in her life. Oh and also my beloved and I have been reading the Lord of the Rings together for about a year now (like out loud to each other, part of the reason it's taking so long)
Current obsession: I gotta say crochet! I learned how to do it around Christmas (long time knitter, always been intimidated by the magic of working with just the one hook) and I'm already banging out a second baby blanket (my friends keep getting pregnant, on purpose), and have also made a shawl for my mum in the meantime, and a few small bits like coasters, bowls and glass pouches. It's so fun! It goes so quickly! Also uses so much yarn and leaves so very many ends to weave in, but that only means there's so many excuses for yarn shopping 🤩
Currently working on: a crochet baby blanket (getting lots of practice on the sunflower granny square pattern), getting promoted at work (keep your fingers crossed Wednesday, I've an interview), getting started with a new volunteering opportunity (they've got a thorough recruitment and training process, which is great! Since it involves work with vulnerable populations), also I've been trying to be more organised about my finances and other adulting stuff, like healthcare, etc
