MOTM SPOILERS!!
I wanna yap about:
How the cup-bros sacrificed EVERYTHING for each other. (and still do till this day)
-> some stuff you'd have probably heard before
At first I laughed at some of the new panels but looking back at it; it goes deeper than that.
It was implied that the cup-bros were poor and this confirms it in the worst way possible. Cuphead sacrificed his own education for mugman. He couldn't care less about himself, it has always been about mugman. I'm pretty sure mugman loved the opportunity to go to school and he clearly learnt a lot of stuff too! Yk like reading and writing. The basics at least.
We don't know what exactly happened but i think the deal with the devil went the same way as in the game. Meaning that Cuphead signed a deal he couldn't read. It's possible that the devil lied about it but I don't think that's what happened. Also, as many people have already stated before me, Cuphead probably gambled in hopes of getting more money to continue supporting mugmans education (I will talk about that again in a sec) and that's so sad honestly. Cuphead being both Illiterate and a child he can't get a job therefore he can't support his family. So he decided to gamble.
Enough yapping about the deal. Let's talk about the aftermath.
The argument and the guilt. Cuphead only ever wanted to help but he ALWAYS fucks up in a way. Once it cost him his soul and the another time his life.
After cuphead has already taken some of the debtors soul contracts he goes back to mugman. Feeling guilt, shame, feelings that no one especially not a CHILD should feel. He knows he is a murderer at this point and hasn't accepted it just yet. (Which he did later on)
"do you still love me" He asked after all that. The only person he has left is mugman. He NEEDS his validation, his love. After all he did everything for his sake.
After their argument Mugman starts hallucinating and he has a derealization episode. By now we know that elder kettle is dead. But it's implied that he died BEFORE the deal.
"they're both dead. I know it"
And with another part of his episode saying "no one is coming back now"
That makes everything even more tragic. Possibly after kettle's death they couldn't afford the school anymore. So as I said earlier they gambled. Mugman is even more afraid now; he doesn't have money and he fears he will die of starvation.
Eventually Cuphead comes back and asks mugman if he still loves him. Now I think that's one of the hardest moments for both of them. Cuphead being afraid, covered in bruises and blood. And Mugman after his episode just looking at him.
Cuphead wasn't the only one who sacrificed everything for his brother. Mugman threw away his future to help Cuphead out with the contracts. (He never went back to school.) He said he is gonna let Cuphead do it alone since it's his fault they're in that mess. Tho as we know he didn't follow his words. He felt guilty looking at Cuphead's situation and he realized he can't survive/live without his brother. So he decided to help him since he is also in that mess.
Both of them would kill and die for each other. Something that has happened in the story.
Most people see them as cold hearted murderers but they fail to see that they were just children trying to survive. They're people too. They doomed themselves that much is true but they didn't know better.
After cuphead arrived at the astral place (is that's how its called? Yk the place where we first saw him as a ghost) he wanted to just give up and die. He is suicidal after all (not active if I'm correct) he didn't give up tho. He remembered his brother and he is DESPERATE to come back to him.
Cuphead constantly tries to comfort/help/ground/calm down mugman through his harmful behavior example chocking himself with his scarf or his derealization episodes etc
Cuphead is there for everything so now that Cuphead is gone; Mugman is going INSANE.
Mugman wants to fight and avenge his brother. He is desperate to find his brother's soul and bring him back like he usually does. Mugman always scolds Cuphead about being careful and quit wasting shots etc so he can AVOID dying and having to be revived. Well he is dead now so guess that didn't work!
Mugman is trying to fight through the guilt and the hallucinations. "It never mattered if I was real. My words are your own." Said hallucination Cuphead so basically mugman.
That scene has STUCK with me ever since. It's very meaningful. We can see inside mugmans head. We can see his thoughts and how he feels about what happened, about everything. The derealization episodes are SO IMPORTANT TO HIS CHARACTER!!
While having one of his episodes (his most recent one) Mugman blames everyone BUT himself about what happened. Eventually tho he realized that he is also in the blame. And boy does reality hit him like a train.
One thing I'm not happy about Cuphead (the game) is that we never saw if and how the thing with the devil impacted them and their daily lives. In motm this is explained in such beautiful and heartbreaking ways.
In conclusion (im just yapping nonsense atp) Cuphead sacrificed his life (both metaphorically and literally) for mugman while Mugman threw away his future and his dreams for Cuphead. They're so doomed they make me SICK!!!
(why is there only 10 pictures limit per post I can't show ANYTHING!!!)
esto me hace sentir muy mal....
