this is stupid
the threat if it was a good book and if the animorphs were smarter
who else up watching tvxq mvs and thinking about tobias animorphs at 1:42am? let me know, thanks.
Missed opportunity in Animorphs: Dodgeball. They're middle/highschoolers in the US in the 1990s. They absolutely had to have PE classes and therefore Dodgeball.
How each Animorph plays dodgeball:
Rachel is the best, but sometimes gets disqualified when playing against Marco because he says something smart and then she drills him in the face, which is an instant out for her.
Marco is the second best, but he thinks he's the best because sometimes Rachel disqualifies herself by hitting him in the face, and that's technically a win for him.
Jake is third best at dodgeball. It's not his favorite game and he's not enthusiastic about it, which bumps him down a couple places, but he is good at catching balls thrown at him - a skill he picked up trying to play Basketball.
Cassie is the fourth best at dodgeball. She's not bad at it, she's just average, and she gets better at it over time.
Ax is the second-worst. He's enthusiastic about it and once mistakenly believed it was a training exercise, but he's uncoordinated as a human and has a weak throw as an Andalite.
Tobias is the worst dodgeballer - It's been too long since he was human, so his human coordination has slipped, and as a hawk he can't throw the ball properly. He's also not enthusiastic about it at all, so he's less fun than Ax is when it's time to play.
Honorable Mention goes to Erek King, who has aimbot and Matrix-like reflexes, but has to tone them down so he can pretend to be human. His anti-violence protocols *probably* allow him to play dodgeball, but if they don't allow him to throw the ball, then he's just dodging and keeping his team in the game by drawing fire while his teammates do all the throwing.
Dishonorable Mention goes to David, who is canonically the kind of kid that always gets picked last, probably would be overly aggressive and get himself knocked out of the game early on, and as a rat would be terrible at throwing.
the snl animorphs bit...
can we all like do a do a whats it called PETITION to have the show CANCELLED because idk if i can deal with animorphs returning to the public eye 😭 like why does everything mocking or parodying animorphs do such a bad job like its not even animorphs theyre making up something to laugh at cus animorphs dialogue isnt like that the villain they made doesnt exist the chatacters dont act like this should we all kill ourselves idk. aniblr should we die?

I'm getting the whole Animorphs team on my Island.
I'm sorry, @whiteratnothlit I stole your design of David. I hope you don't mind!
My little yeerk
You reblogged a post a couple hours ago saying that David was failed by the adults. Was wondering if you’d be willing to elaborate on that? Most commentary on his extraordinarily shitty situation have to do with the Yeerks or the Animorphs so I was curious.
Yes! I have always empathized way more than I want to with David. Because my dad's job involved him being away 2-3 weeks a month during parts of my childhood, and required us to move from city to city every few years. To be clear, my parents are great — they're some of my best friends now we're adults, and they not only did everything they could to give us stability as kids but recently dropped everything to rush out and help me during a family emergency.
But it's not fucking easy to move around that much and have that much chaos at home. And I hope I have reasonable-quality social skills as an adult, but I wasn't always that way. I don't think I ever did anything seriously wrong — sucked up to bullies to avoid getting bulled myself, responded sarcastically when other kids tried to get real with me — but I also wasn't a great person as a preteen.
So like, I can feel my stomach curl up like a fist while reading some of those scenes with David. Like where he tries to join in with the in-joke about Tobias's Bird Opinions, only to have the Animorphs all turn on him because what the hell, you're going too far. Or where he doesn't fully understand what controllers are, and Marco scolds him for being naïve instead of explaining. Or where Jake orders him to live with Cassie, and David is baffled and hurt by the idea of a peer being in charge of his life. I've been David in those conversations.
But while I got pretty-good parenting from overworked but well-meant people (and had an older sister to fill in the gaps) — David clearly does not have that. David has a loaded BB gun in his room. David swims unsupervised. David owns 5 TVs. David has an illegal exotic pet under his bed. David's dad wears a loaded service weapon while sitting on the couch watching Buffy. David gives strangers on the internet his home address. Any of those details alone would be a mild concern; all together, they paint a picture of parents who never do any of the hard work of parenting when they could instead buy the kid more stuff to shut him up. No one has ever taught David to take others' feelings into account, and I'm guessing no one has ever grounded him. So he's not only friendless, but unable to make friends, and then he gets forced onto the world's most cohesive team. And disaster ensues.
Animorphs #21: The Threat thoughts (pt. 5):
This is my first time really noticing the detail about David calmly sitting on his bed watching TV after killing Tobias and while waiting for Jake to show up. Absolutely chilling, and says so much about David as a person. He just... doesn't appear to think that much about the murders he's committing.
I think I also remembered David being willing to work with Visser Three throughout the end of this book, but he explicitly says he knows that won't work. At this time, his only goal is to kill enough Animorphs that the rest leave him alone.
That said, I also kind of feel for him in this moment: «What choice do I have? The yeerks know me. My parents would turn me in... You and the others? Hey, you made it clear that night at the Holiday Inn, right? What was it you said? Something like, 'If you go around using your powers however you want, we can't have you around. You're a danger to us.' ... What choice do I have, Jake? No family. No home. can't even step out in public as a human. Yeerks after me. The rest of my life I live in Cassie's barn? Do what I'm told? Let Marco hammer me? Let Rachel look down her pretty nose at me? And in the meantime risk getting trapped as a flea or something? Or killed?» David is right, is the thing. Either he can spend what little is left of his life getting treated like dirt by his fellow Animorphs, or he can get made a controller. That's it. If he can kill Jake, maybe he can get away, and that's just about his only chance. He really doesn't have another choice at the time.

Reblog if you like the color blue.
i hope the Animorphs tv show does come out and gets canceled so it ends on the David arc
I hope David appears for the tv show that's all I want since he doesnt appear in the original nor the graphic novel
Animorphs #48: The Return
“David, I don’t want you to take this the wrong way, but bite me.”
“What?”
“Bite me on the back."
