Need to open a OneNote notebook that your teacher created? Follow these 5 steps.
1. Click on the “Open OneNote Notebooks” link on WhitfieldNow (or just click here).
2. Log in using your whole Whitfield email address and the password you use to log into your computer. If it asks you to choose an account type, select WORK OR SCHOOL, not PERSONAL.
3. Once you log in (if it’s your first time, it might take awhile), click on the “Shared with me” link in the left sidebar. (if the picture below doesn’t look like what you see, find a blue “OneDrive” button and click it)
4. On the next screen, find the notebook you’re looking for in the list and click on it.
5. The notebook should open in your web browser, but you want to open it in OneNote on your computer. Find a button that says “EDIT IN ONENOTE” or “OPEN IN ONENOTE” and click it. Follow the prompts OneNote gives you on your computer. FYI opening a class notebook takes awhile and OneNote might freeze or say “Not Responding.” Totally normal. Just wait it out.
Using only lyrics from songs, Juniors wrote prose or poems about topics that are important to them and/or their generation. The requirements were a minimum of two words and a maximum of three lines used consecutively in the final product. Juniors needed to reference at least ten different artist’s work. A week ago the 7th Grade class went to Memphis, Tennessee. We went to the National Civil Rights Museum, Rock and Soul Museum, and Graceland.
On the first day after driving there we got to go to the Civil Rights Museum where we got to learn about the history of racism and segregation and we got to see where Martin Luther King Jr. was shot. Later we got to the Rock N’ Soul Museum where we got learn the history of the music industry in Memphis from the early 1900’s to the 1970’s. Then after dinner we went to the Memphis Music Hall of Fame where we got to see a lot of instruments and other objects from famous Memphis musicians. The next day, we went to Graceland and toured around Elvis’ mansion.

Senior Retrospective is about celebrating the multiple years of hard work and dedication of Whitfield's High School Art students. It's a time when students come together to appreciate the talents of other students, and a time to learn about the inspirations and thoughts behind the work of all the students. Senior Retrospective mostly includes work from the past 2 or 3 years along with an artist statement that every senior writes. Senior Retrospective is a tradition that has been happening for a while in the Whitfield Community. It is great that young artists have the opportunity to showcase work to the community!

"I like the projects that we get to do and how they promote creativity and individuality. You really get to see each person's artistic views through each project and photographs. Ms. Foster, thank you so much for making art such a pleasant experience. I have had her for two years and she has really inspired me be the best photographer I can be. "I like how Whitfield gives a lot of attention to art, whether it would be theater, drawing, ceramics, or photography. I really like how it helps students find out about themselves creatively and in a different viewpoint than in Math class or English class. It is really interesting to see how photos from sophomore year to senior year improve over the years. Ms. Foster, thank you so much for the past three years (they've been amazing!) Especially this year, I only take art once a week because I take many other classes, but I still like to be able to come in and take a class and still learn things. They have Senior Retrospective to celebrate people that have stuck with art for many years and I think that it is very cool that they encourage both challenging yourself in hard classes, but also keeping up with the art. "What I like about Art at Whitfield is that they don't focus on just teaching us how to work with clay or how to paint, they teach us life skills. Everything that we do plays back into the real world. A lot of my projects started off as something that I had heard or something I brought up to Mr. Cano and it turned into learning something about how it relates to me. I want to thank Mr. Cano for giving me something that I will take with me for the rest of my life. "We are given the freedom from our teachers to really express ourselves especially as a junior or a senior. Everyone that was assigned with the egg project had a different take. Some students went with a more serious approach while others went with a more playful approach. Whenever we have photography class it is almost like an escape from normal classes to express yourself and joke around and have fun, but learn more about yourself. "I think that if Whitfield was supposed to be well known for something, it would be well known for art, just like John Burroughs is known for their academics. It is nice that Whitfield allows students to take four years of art. I like how we have many different branches of art like painting, ceramics, and graphic design. I want to thank my art teacher, Mr. Daniels, for allowing me to have the freedom to do whatever I wanted. He also has helped me push myself and break the boundaries of what I thought I could do. "Art at Whitfield is free and you are able to do what you want. You are able to really express yourself. You have many options that you can choose from. I went from photography to ceramics. I wanted to try something different so I had the option to switch to ceramics. Ms. Foster and Mr. Cano are pretty chill and they are very helpful. If you have a problem you can tell them, and they'll tell you to focus on the positive side and not the negative side. “I like how the Whitfield Studio Art Program pushes students past their typical media. As a photo student, I was encouraged to try new medium, think outside the box, and create visual messages. Ms. Foster is such a creative and intelligent person, making her an amazing photography teacher. She doesn't let anyone settle for anything less than their personal best and always knows how to bring out each artists' individual strengths. The Little Mermaid is about a mermaid named Ariel (Emma Severson) who is mesmerized with everything on land. Ariel continuously visits the surface hoping to see humans and their treasures. Her father, King Triton (Josh Paine) forbid her to go up to the surface, but Ariel did not listen to her father. On one of her visits to the surface she falls in love with Prince Eric (Mac Wylie). Ariel longed to be with Prince Eric so she decided to make a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula (Jewell Paine) to become a human for three days.
The Little Mermaid Musical was definitely a must see! The plot of this musical was very easy to understand. The actors did a great job portraying all the scenes. Every character did a great job putting their mind into the character that they were playing. Overall, everyone did an outstanding performance.
The cast loved being part of this wonderful show. Yes, there were some hardships throughout the way, but overall the cast loved being in The Little Mermaid. For proof, check out the quotes from the cast!
"My favorite part of the show is the friends that you make during the show and the fun traditions that go on after the shows such as going to Steak and Shake, Uncle Bills, etc. This year the musical was pushed a week or two forward because of Passover, so that shifted our time schedule a lot, which meant there was a good amount of work to do over spring break. Prince Eric was a nice role because I got to be a human the entire time and got to wear people clothes. The cast was amazing this year and overall I think this was a great show. Having this be my last school production, I can reflect back on how much theater has impacted my high school career. "My favorite part was curtain call. I love the dance numbers and I love singing, but when we all come out during the end all together as one cast, it's magical. It was very difficult for me because it was my first show, but I was also a senior. So there were so many rules and expectations I was expected to know as a senior but I didn't. I am so happy to be a part of the musical this year. I absolutely LOVED the Little Mermaid and I felt it was the best musical Whitfield has had in years. I am very glad I decided to do the musical. It was a huge time commitment, but I love performing and I was glad I could explore this side of Whitfield before I graduate." - Lily Crandall '16 (Alana)
"My favorite part of the show was being able to work such an incredibly talented cast and crew. I'm not the best dancer, so Under The Sea was a bit difficult for me to learn and attempt to perfect the routine. This musical was some of the best times I had in a show. Everything was so much fun and it was a great way to go out. I am incredibly lucky to be part of such a wonderful group of kids who are dedicated to theatre, and put their best work towards the outcome of the shows. I will miss everyone very much, and I'm so glad to have shared the stage with amazing people." - Joey Yazdi '16 (Chef Louis)
"My favorite part of the whole show was seeing it all come together in our first full run-through. Before this, I really only got to see my scenes and a few extras but nothing as amazing as seeing all the lights, sounds, and people come together. The show takes up a lot of time, especially the weekends. I knew that going in so I made sure I was as clear as could be for the last two months. It gets especially hard in the last week before the show, rehearsals run into the night, you start incorporating new pieces with lights and sound making it like a new show every night. But in the end it was all well worth the hard work. Also, did I mention that my costume was about 150 degrees? This show was a blast from start to finish. This was the first time I really stepped out of my comfort zone and took a singing part. Playing as Scuttle was just so much fun and allowed me to have a lot of freedom while I was on stage. Also, great work to the props and lighting groups, they made the show amazing with crazy coral and amazing water effects. Finally, I would like to thank the cast and crew for making my last show so amazing. I will always remember my time under the sea, and I will miss you guys next year. "My favorite thing about the show would have to be, working with the people that I love most. I consider the theater kids a second family to me. I think that one of the hardest things when working on the show was (of course) making the show the best it can be, but also maintaining my life outside of the show. It can be difficult when you have to be prepared and in character for your scenes but also schoolwork, outside activities and family events are things that you also have to focus on. The entire cast and crew really look out for one another and that is a big deal when it comes down to the moment you step on stage.
