2016 Rollout 101
The first (essential) ten steps for guiding students through getting their Surface Pro 4 computers. How exciting.
1. Brief overview of the Surface, case, and expectations for use/care (+ case and labels always stay on, + no customizing or personalizing, + see tech right away for any damage/problems/if you can’t access ports with case on, + 3-strikes policy for accidental damage insurance).
2. If students don’t have a name tag sticker on their charger, have them look for it (probably tucked between keyboard and screen) and stick it on the SIDE of the charger block.
3. Turn machine on, click on wireless logo on login screen (lower right), connect to WHITLX (ask tech team for password).
4. Don’t log in as “Tech.” Click on “Other User” (lower left of screen), enter username and password to log in. (might take 1-2 minutes the first time!)
5. Once logged in, create a new folder on the desktop! Right-click, select “New > Folder” and name it “Google Drive”.
OneNote: Working with Class Notebooks
Looking to create, edit, or manage OneNote class notebooks? Follow this 8-step program.
1. Visit whitfieldnow.com/ofi and click on the “Class Notebooks” button. On the next page, there should be a login button somewhere. Find it, click it, and log in with your whole Whitfield email address and computer password. If it asks you to choose, select “Work or School Account.”
2. Click on the button you want to use. For this walkthrough, we’ll be creating a notebook. Other things you can do on this page include adding or removing students or teachers to existing notebooks and downloading the Class Notebook Add-in.
3. Let the wizard walk you through creating a notebook. Give it a good name and make sure to add the academic year (”1617″ in this demo) to the end of the title. FYI step 2 just explains the different parts of a class notebook.
The Role of Allies: Supporting the LGBTQIA+ Community
A group of LGBTQIA+ and Faith leaders were convened by the Diversity Awareness Partnership to assess the St. Louis community’s needs in the aftermath of the Orlando tragedy.  After the first meeting, leaders agreed that exploring the idea of a Free Community-Wide Symposium would help increase education and awareness about the LGBTQ community for allies and supporters.Â

Over the second half of the class you will build an advanced telepresence robot using a microcontroller and sensors.I hope you will join me in the wild world of robotics.
