Hi everyone!

Today I want to talk about educational videos. Videos can be used in various ways in a class. Some topics might be better understood through audios and videos, for revision work at home, for motivating learners but also for reinforcement of learning. As being active learners, we should follow the trend and forget ''has been'' methods. We should make good use of available tools. Finally, I want to share with your some video editing tools; OpenShot, HitFilm Epress and MiniTool MovieMaker. Have a look !

Classroom management Software

Hello everyone! 

Today I would like to talk about CMS. Classroom Management Software, what is it? It’s a software that manages students’ device usage in the classroom, giving teachers ability to see, manage and track device activity. It helps to monitor students’ work and also a way to eliminate distractions. 

In my case, I use Dojo, which is a very funny one! As you can see it is interactive and is used to award students for their efforts. It will help to motivate students and encourage them to do better !

I would like to talk about social bookmarking. Social bookmarking is a way for people to store, organize, search, and manage “bookmarks” of web pages. Users save links to web pages that they like or want to share, using a social bookmarking site to store these links. Some sites of social bookmarking are Diigo, Delicious, Digg, TweetMeme and many more.

In my case I’ve created an account on Diigo so as to bookmark all the articles and sites I find interesting for my Kreol Class.

Hello everyone! :)

Today I am going to talk about online assessment. This week I’ve learnt about it. I find it very interesting as it can be very helpful and less time consuming specially during this difficult period of Covid-19. This pandemic situation caused a lot of delays in the education system. And as it has been the case in several countries, online courses have taken place to catch up and to avoiding too much gap in learning. And when learning is taking place somehow some kind of evaluation is important to know whether the students understood the lesson. And as it can’t be done physically, online assessment would be the best solution. Some examples of online assessment are Kahoot, Quizziz, Google Forms and Hot potatoes somehow Hotpotatoes is not a software that necessarily need to be done online but it can be interesting also. Dear teachers, I invite you to have a look!

Hello there! 

Today I wanna talk about the LMS which stands for Learning Management System. It is a software application, but LMS is generally a cloud based plaform, used for administering learning content, tracking and reporting learner progress. It is can be used by students and teachers but can also include parents, educational administrators and other stakeholders. 

One example of a LMS that I want to talk about today is the Google Classroom. It can be used for delivering courses content online, managing content and users for example create and edit topics, updating and so on. It may help to provide timely feedback through quiz assignments or questions and also tracking learner’s progress, performance and participation through common sheets which can be used to record and gather data of all student’s work. 

Exciting huh?! As teachers we should be life-long learners and always innovate and adapt according to modernization and evolution.

Amongst my courses, there is a module about bringing technological innovation in the classroom, and I wanna share with you what I learn during this class.

First of all, we are a modernizing society, and as a life-long learners, we should innovate our way of learning and teaching also.

Technology has taken a major place in our society, and it is a great facilitator in our daily life and it applies in the educational system also.

One thing I learnt is OERs. OER stands for Open Educational Resources. These are materials that are free to use and repurpose because they are openly licensed or live in the public domain. Some examples can be images, streaming videoes, textbooks and softwares. Benefits of OER are that they are lowering costs for students, there is diversity of resources with wild availability, easy to modify materials for accessibility and enables education for all including life-long learners and those with limited access.

One example of an OER software is Hot potatoes which enables teachers to create questionnaires online without using papers. Its a very convenient way of working as it is cost and time effective.

The Hot Potatoes suite includes six applications, enabling creation of interactive multiple-choice, short-answer, jumbled-sentence, crossword, matching/ordering and gap-fill exercises for the World Wide Web. Hot Potatoes is freeware, and may be used for any purpose or project.

Hello guys!

As I mentionned earlier, I am a kreol student at tertiary level. My studies are specialised in teaching kreol. I would like to share with you the reason I chose this field. Kreol is our mother tongue language in Mauritius. And I find it important to learn kreol in schools as I personally think that Kreol facilitates learning in other subjects. Students have better comprehension, critical thinking and most importantly effective skills of communication ! As they have grown up with this language, it will be easier for them to develop and evolve during their learning path. This will also create a sense of belonging and better self-esteem for them to become a citizen of our tomorrow society.

I find this subject very exciting and interesting. As I did not have the chance to study kreol in my early studies, I want students of today and tomorrow to have the access, the opportunity and the right to choose learning kreol.
