MY HIMALAYAS TREK ADVENTURE
"We left early in the morning from Dehradun to meet up with some of my trek mates to travel together to Katgaon which is 6500ft above sea level. The journey started off with beautiful views of the Himalayas, Yamuna, and Tons of rivers and continued with more breathtaking views.
Katgaon is a beautiful little town with a culture of its own and we reached there by sunset. We began our trek the next morning ascending across different terrains, scaling rocks, crossing bridges over small streams, and forest pathways. The snow deposited from the previous week’s snowfall made it even more challenging with snow up to 2 to 4 feet deep and the temperature to -10 C
We camped twice before reaching the summit after a 12500ft high trek. The camping was an experience on its own, with no light pollution it was the perfect night sky with stars and pine trees in the foreground. Reaching the summit after three days of trekking and camping was an emotional and overwhelming experience and we all felt a huge sense of pride having completed such a massive climb.
We then made our way down with two more camping pit stops. This trek, for me, emphasized the importance of teamwork between the trekkers and we formed a strong bond with a vow to do something similar again in the future.
I did take a number of pictures but they really don’t justify the sheer beauty and the raw emotion behind such an epic adventure.
It was definitely a memory to cherish and an experience to remember.” - By Refaad Sulttan Sha
