âI mean, are you fucking kidding me?! She literally has no experience in education! She can barely spell properly, and Trump honestly fucking picks her. Itâs such a fucking insult to us actual teachers.â
âYou should talk to Nadia. Sheâs been screaming about it all day and Iâm starting to go deaf. Itâs definitely bullshit, though. Even I needed experience to work in a fucking coffee shop. Nadia is a teacher, she has a degree, and she has a child in the public school system. Why isnât she qualified for the job?â

Piper: WHAT
Piper: Let's go
Piper: Where in CA let's fuck them up
Hannah: San Diego
Hannah: I'm so fucking mad Piper I can't stop shaking.

Piper: Yes!!!!!
Piper: Wait
Piper: Yes and why
Hannah: Nadia decided to go out on a limb and send them a wedding invite and they filed a fucking restraining order against her.
Hannah: She keeps insisting that she's not mad but they broke her fucking heart Piper she can't hide it.
Hannah: I want to set their fucking house on fire.

Nadia gratefully slid into Hannahâs body, not allowing herself to sob. She had cried too many tears over her parents and this finalityâshe was hurt, she was angry, and it was over. Nadia couldnât keep torturing herself. âFuck them. God, fuck them! This is bullshit. I donât need them, right? I donât need them. I have a family now. A family of my own.â
Hannah nodded, repeating the words. âYou donât need them,â she whispered. There were so many things she wished she could say to Nadiaâs parents right now. And while the smaller woman was vowing herself to not get upset, it had already sunken deep inside of Hannah. There was a hatred brewing inside of her, one that sheâd only ever felt for the man she considered her sperm donor. âTell me what to do,â she said softly. âTell me what you need right now.â

Hannah: I need to go to California.
âItâs a restraining order. My own god damn parents got a restraining order against me, all because Iâm queer and they didnât want to expand their tiny minds. Jesus! I shouldnât be crying.â
Hannah was positive that if she clenched her teeth together any harder, they would break. She was sure that Nadiaâs parents couldnât get any worse, and then this. The pain she was seeing her fiance go through was making her shake as her throat closed up, unable to think that this was somehow her fault. Hannah was sure if her lips parted even in the slightest, sheâd spew things sheâd regret, so she just wrapped her arms around Nadia, trying to comfort the woman she loved and steady her own breathing. The anger was almost overwhelming and she could feel that burn of a panic attack creeping in very slowly.
i remember this time I had this massive crush on this dude and we were walking together and I had memorized a bunch of conversation starters in case things got awkward including questions such as âwhat places do you want to visitâ and other similar questions, but suddenly he goes âyou know, I really like you, like more than a friendâ and I was so shocked I didnât know how to respond so I shouted âWHATâS YOUR FAVOURITE ANIMALâ

âSo I got this big old list aâ names of people I wanna get Christmas gifts for and I donât even know where to start. Iâm terrible at this. How do people get this done on time or without losing their minds or even at all?â
âTwo words; online shopping.â

Nadia sighed shakily. âI was just⊠thinking about the guest list. And whether or not to invite my parents.â Her words were quiet and she couldnât even look her fiance in the eye. If she did, she would surely start crying.
Hannah knew this conversation would eventually happen. Personally, she wanted nothing to do with Nadiaâs parents. They were people she strongly disliked and she hadnât even met them, but the pain they caused her fiancĂ© was enough for her to know. Kissing Nadiaâs shoulder lightly, Hannah spoke softly. âMaybe...this could be their last chance. We could invite them, and...if they donât come...â she trailed off, knowing the brunette knew where she was going with it.

Nadia couldnât remember the last time she had seen Hannah drink so much. She chuckled, deciding to limit herself so that she could keep a proper eye on Keith. âPossibly. We can just let Keith do it.â Nadia suggested with a shrug. âHeâd take it so seriouslyâŠâ
Nadia frowned, reaching forward to sip her own beer. She was still on her first one. âYeah! Yeah, IâmâŠfine. Just thinking. Itâs okay.â She insisted, taking another generous sip. It didnât do much to push the thought of her parents away.
It had been a long time, and Hannah knew Nadia better than anyone. She knew there was something very specific on her mind. Gently, Hannahâs hand slid beneath her fianceâs shirt to rest on her bare lower back. âTalk to me. I know you, you knowâŠâ

Nadia strode back into the kitchen with several wedding magazines, dropping them unceremoniously onto the table. âOkay. I know we havenât settled on a date yet, but if we try to plan another boring thing Iâm going to go insane. At least looking at dresses will be fun⊠maybe.â Nadia chewed the inside of her cheek nervously. Truthfully, her mind was still on the guest list.
Should she invite her parents? They hadnât talked to her in years, and Nadia had given them countless chances. Part of her was exhausted of the constant rejection, but not even inviting them felt wrong.
Hannah was already on her fourth beer. She had no idea how stressful this kind of thing could be; picking out colors and textures. It felt like torture after the first hour. But when Nadia came in with something else other than decoration to look at, she groaned thankfully. âCan we circle the ones we like best like weâre twelve?â she asked with a chuckle, leaning over to kiss Nadiaâs cheek. âYou okay, honey?â

âPeople actually spend time doing that?â
Hannah turned her laptop towards Juliet, âTheyâre making tiny lasagna. With tiny utensils in a tiny oven. I donât know why itâs making me so depressed. Is there actually such thing as too cute?â
âI know I have things to do but I just canât stop with the videos of people making tiny food for tiny hamsters...â
