Characters who have dignity are honestly the best. Like not even *stoic characters*, I just mean ones who don't tend to get emotional often, who don't scare easily, who are very hard to break into tears, who are usually either pleasantly cheerful or just calm, and you know if they were to have an emotional outburst they would Not let it happen in front of people. Getting intense gratification out of seeing our favorite character going through trauma
This is how my brain chooses a favorite character in literally any media
Ok so…fever delirium where the whumpee ISN’T completely out of it; they’re still relatively alert, it’s just that everything looks a little weird and hazy and unreal, maybe they hear what sounds like whispering voices that they know can’t be real but sound like they’re right there in the room with them…when the caretaker comes in to check on them it looks like they’ve got three heads or black holes for eyes or something, and whumpee tries not to be scared because it’s just caretaker, they’re still lucid enough to recognize them but they look so wrong…they’re getting distressed and freaked out despite knowing they’re sick and the fever is just messing with them, it all seems so real
the whump fan’s dilemma
The magic user, in their delirium, keeps calling for their dad. The team knows they must be in pain because they hate their father. The leader gently takes their hand and tries to talk to them while the healer works on their wounds.

It was a cold morning, Steven waking up and almost immediately wanting to turn off him alarm and stay in bed. But he had stuff to do today, whether he liked it or not.
Was it depression? No, it couldn’t be, right? Nothing was wrong.
Pushing himself out of bed, he took a deep breath and sighed as he glanced out the window. Nothing was the same as it used to be. As a little kid, maybe he would hop off the bed and sprint outside, excited to start his day. Now? Things were different.
Steven glanced to the painting by Vidalia of Garnet and him. A fun memory, that was years ago. He caught himself mumbling it wouldn’t happen again. Something… Fun.

Later in the afternoon, the teen sat down with the three other Crystal Gems, looking hesitant before speaking. “I think I… Need a therapist,” he muttered, ashamed of reaching out for help.

every whumpee is called a Boomer. And they’re always older than the gen z!whumper
they only listen to these kinds of playlists, sometimes the same one for hours on end.

“Storytime! This Boomer was so preoccupied with the nails in his foot that he didn’t even see the knife I just put into his shoulder!”
*whumpee screams* “Oh, mood.”
all of this is still livestreamed, and it gets around. other whumpers who would consider themselves more distinguished in this craft see this and are very very confused by this person. who the hell is this and why do they keep saying “wig” and calling themselves a crackhead? what the fuck??
oh, obviously the whumper is gay/bi/pan whichever etc, and talks about it all the time, for sure. nearly forgot oops. that was just always a part of them from the get-go though lmao.
anyways if anyone is interested in adding onto this in any way shape or form please do
at 3 am the whumper starts venting out their entire life to the whumpee calling it “sad boi hours” and then punishing any perceived apathy
Bleeding through bandages, the whumpee too exhausted and hypovolemic to notice as the caretaker gets more panicked as they continue soaking through additional bandages
