I’ve been seeing a lot of indignation about what a hypocrite Serena is for the Leah business after how angry she was about Bernie cheating.

Except that isn’t what happened. Serena never says a word about Bernie’s infidelity, her sexuality, or anything else about the situation. She’s hurt that Bernie lied to her directly, especially in terms of the friendship they’ve been building and the honesty that she’s extended to Bernie. That’s why when they reconcile, Bernie calls herself “a big lying army medic,” not a cheating one. The lie was always the central issue.

Serena has fucked up a whole lot of things in the current storyline, but this isn’t one of them.

(I commented on this on someone else’s post, but I thought it bore repeating)
