Title - Lovely Lookouts. (It’s a bad title, I know. Hopefully I think of something else.)
Warnings - None. Well, it’s kind of short and not the best.
Type - Fluff.
Summary - Your friend Christina invites you out to a get together on New Year’s Eve and it doesn’t turn out as bad as you were expecting.
You clock off work for the last time this year, put in your earphones, play your music and head home. However, your plans for reading, sleeping, eating and watching tv all night are ruined as your best friend Christina intercepts you before you manage to leave the shopping centre in which you work. “Hey, best friend” she drags out, pleadingly. “I know you want something Christina,” you say, having been friends with her for a while has allowed you to pick up on her different tones. “Well, Corbyn and a few of his friends are having a small get together thing tonight, you know for new years, and I was thinking. You never have any plans so you can come too. To keep me company.” the speed in which she spoke gradually started quickening as she got closer to the end of her sentence as she was expecting some resistance from you.
“A. Why do you need me there, your boyfriend and his friends will be there. And B.I don’t like parties, but I’ll come. You owe me one though!” you give in, knowing there was no point fighting it. “Awesome, I’ll pick you up at 9!” Christina says as she runs off to, as you assume, go and get ready.

After about an hour or so of arriving you had met Corbyn, Christina’s boyfriend once again, and had been introduced to his four bandmates. After some casual conversation with each of them, they had all dispersed amongst the house. Christina and Corbyn were snuggled up on the lounge laughing and talking to each other, Zach and Jonah were having some weird argument in the corner that you decided to not get involved in, Jack was half on his phone, half asleep and Daniel was nowhere to be seen. As midnight neared, the morale and excitement levels of the boys seemed to raise and they were now having a very intense, very loud, game of ping pong. This is when you decided to get some air.
You close the door, holding your jacket to your body for warmth as the crisp night air meets your skin. You glance around the unfamiliar backyard and catch a glimpse of the view. You approach the edge of the backyard overlooking the city below and jump when you hear a voice. “I wouldn’t get too close if I were you. It’s a bit dark and we don't want you to fall.” You turn and see Daniel smiling, pushing himself us from his spot on the floor in the corner. You shyly smile back at him, not having spoken to him much. “You look a little cold, here” he hands you his jacket, and before you can deny it, you realise he was also wearing a hoodie so you let him drape it around your shoulders. You mutter a thank you and he sends you a cute smile.
After talking to each other for half an hour, you had become quite close, as had midnight. You were finishing up your rant about why everyone should own a cat, you stop as you see that he looks lost. When you ask him if he is okay, he answers “I’m sorry. I just kind of got lost in how cute you are when you talk about something you are passionate about.” His comment makes you blush and you try to hide this by looking down. “Hey, don’t hide your face, it’s beautiful. Blushing or no blushing.” His index finger guiding your chin your eyes meet him, he realises how close the two of you are. Daniel smiles and you blush even more until he closes the distance. His soft lips touch yours passionately and you hear a bang. You both jump apart, only to realise they were fireworks. And you could tell it would definitely be a Happy New Year.
