I come from a health and wellness background spanning over 8 years. It has become increasingly obvious to me- especially over the past 4 years of nursing that society has to change. We are generally unhappy, isolated, sick, sedentary... and large. The human animal is perfectly designed to move, to eat real food and to thrive in a social environment. Fit Flock, as a collective community project, has the potential to turnaround our shocking health and wellness statistics. From a public health perspective, I see how important it is to promote a broad and holistic solution that is accessible, affordable and appropriate for a multicultural New Zealand (and planet). Our problems encompass not only the physical aspects of health, but also our sense of mental, emotional and spiritual health. Therefor the solution must also tackle the wider determinants of health and wellbeing.
