"Who's my pretty girl?" as she's choking on it and looking up at me
There will be a lot of posts soon from people sharing how much they achieved in 2024. But in case someone needs to hear this, it's okay if the only thing you did this year was just get through it.... It's ok.
you can’t force someone to see that you’re a blessing, you just gotta let them miss out
You tried to change, didn't you? Closed your mouth more, tried to be softer, prettier, less volatile, less awake. You can't make homes out of human beings. Someone should have already told you that.

nobody warns you this but addiction happens without you noticing and one of the first things that it attacks is your ability to care. if you find yourself using recreational drugs every day, stop and take one day a week sober. if you struggle with this or if you don't see the point of the exercise, you are likely already addicted and you need help.
nobody ever taught me the warning signs for drug addiction, only that "it costs lots of money and destroys your life!!!1" which is not helpful if you can't recognize a developing addiction in yourself.
so here's some things to watch out for with recreational drug use:
planning your day around drugs e.g "i'll give myself an extra half hour before heading out so i can get high first"
rapidly switching emotions around drugs. you love them but you hate that you love them so much. you hate the way you feel on them but you hate being sober. feeling guilty after using even when you didn't give a crap beforehand.
caring less about spending money. if you are budgeting for drugs like they are food, you are likely prioritizing them more than is healthy.
getting high to do household chores and other unpleasant things because it would suck less and be more bearable on drugs
feeling anxious or restless while sober, not knowing what to do with oneself, feeling lost or ungrounded.
thinking about doing drugs constantly even while sober. maybe it's the first thing you think of when you wake up. maybe when you're bored or otherwise have free time, drugs are one of the first things you can think of to occupy yourself with.
going to work or school while under the influence, especially if it happens regularly and if you're seeing your performance suffer as a result.
the idea of taking a 'tolerance break' sounds good to you until it's actually break time, at which point you can come up with 20 very reasonable sounding points to explain why it wouldn't benefit you actually and you should just keep doing drugs regardless.
even if you succeed at quitting the drug, you keep your dealer's number on your phone "just in case"
you pretend to be sober when you aren't. you worry about other people noticing how much time you spend high. you make efforts to hide your drug use or minimize how much other people think you're using. you're scared of other people's judgement if they were to find out.
you have mood swings laced with self-hatred, regret, financial worries, and guilt. these mood swings are then very quickly wiped away by feelings of "but it doesn't matter, i can do what i want, and clearly i'm doing just fine while using drugs frequently". news flash, if you are rapidly switching between feeling numb-ok and hating yourself more than anything because of your drug use, you are mentally ill.
yes this applies to weed. weed is a drug and you can get addicted to it like any other substance. addiction is not the same as physical dependence; it is psychological and it can happen to anyone. you are not immune to addiction.
Many of these also apply to process addictions such as Gambling Addiction.
and drinking!!
No longer want to be associated or reminded of anything that caused me to question myself.
It hurts like hell when you know that you need to let go of someone but you can't because you're still waiting for impossible to happen.
Instead of obsessing over HIM. Over the job you don’t have. Over the lack of love, lack of funds, lack of new clothes, lack of everything, pour your energy into becoming HER. This is the becoming HER project. Every single day is an opportunity to step into HER. Your dream girl, living that life. This month is for actual-fucking-action. Actions towards your dreams. Actions towards living and breathing life as the most fulfilled version of yourself, the version you see so clearly in your mind but haven’t fully manifested in 3D. The version of you bursting out at the seams of your mind. She is ready to live, to experience life.
This is you pouring into you. It was never about anyone outside of yourself. Your current circumstances are a reflection of your inner world. Focus your energy on becoming the most elevated version of you.
I just want to remind you that sometimes your life really doesn't begin until you are 26+... Romanticizing and obsessing over our youth is harmful. Growing up is beautiful. Discovering who you are and how you interact with the world is a gift. Maturing and learning what you truly want out of life and living in that purpose brings fulfillment and peace. Your life is not over in your early 20's because you haven't figured it out yet, it's just beginning.
2023 Will Be
Less time online: being present in the moment, not letting online/social media trends influence me in any way. Making the most of each day. Spending more time in nature, admiring the beauty of creation. More time spent on my hobbies, bettering myself, growing into the woman I want to be. Quality time with friends and family
Taking care of my body: pilates throughout the week and walking 4 miles (around 10k steps) as many days as possible. Establishing a healthy sleep schedule. Consuming local, seasonal, and organic produce, grass-fed and free-range animal products, fresh sourdough. Making homemade meals as much as possible.
Stepping out of my comfort zone: not letting fear of the unknown stop me from living an amazing life. Saying yes to new opportunities and trying new things. Exploring parts of the city I've never been to before. Not being scared to travel solo. Making conversation with strangers. Developing new hobbies such as horse riding and painting. Seeing what this beautiful earth has to offer.
Nourishing my soul: starting my day with prayer and gratitude. Walking in obedience to the Lord and putting His will above mine. Spending time in His word daily. Being intentional with my thoughts, words, and actions. Allowing the fruit of the Spirit to influence all things I think, say, and do.
Seeking quality over quantity: getting rid of all the fast-fashion pieces in my closet and slowly but surely replacing them with 100% silk, wool, cotton, linen, and cashmere pieces. Continuing to build my capsule wardrobe. Only investing in luxury pieces when I'm sure they will remain in my closet for years to come. This also applies to my relationships. Contrary to popular belief, we need relationship and community to survive. As long as I'm surrounded with people I love, trust, and care for, that's more than I could ask for. It's the quality, not quantity of close relationship that matters.
It may be a tough pill to swallow, but, you look ridiculous by not moving forward in life. Move on. You’re not going to reach your goals until you do.
