Date a man who you can love
Date a man who you can love. He is a reader, a writer, a traveler, a photographer, a film critic, a sleeper and so much more. Because dating just one of them isn’t enough.
Date a man who does all of that. You will find him reading in the buses, listening to music, maybe. You will know it is him because that book or that song is what he will talk about when he takes the 10 minute smoke break from his busy work day just to call you. His interests will be wide; political movies, bikes and so on but you will know that he is the one you should date because despite his day job, that may have little to do with his interests, he has a stack of books, DVDs, old letters, albums and so much more in his room that make him who he is so he will never run out of things to talk about.
Date such a man because he will know that being passionate is one thing and being passionate about just one thing is fiction. He will know why you’d want to discuss the decaying trade of advertising and the SNL at the same time. He will understand when you say that you have varied interests in music, just the way he has varied destinations he wants to travel to around the world. Because there is something that at least one of you will find interesting in almost everything.
Date a man who writes as well as reads. You will know that you should, because he will be just as interested in your blog post as he is in the bestsellers of the literary. He will understand why you take notes while reading a book or why you have a heap of articles that you have written but you won’t dare publish. You will be sure that it is him because he will write with his fingers on your bare back, the haiku that he cannot get out of his head because, he believes in the romance between the words of the poets and not the kinds in the movies which you insist on watching with him, sometimes.
Date a man who takes photographs. He will know your need of safeguarding the old letters or emails. Be with this man because he will know that the best memories are made in dark rooms. Be with him because he likes keeping memoirs. Be with him, because you will never be forgotten. Be with him, not because you’re reading this but because, he will tell you how shiny your eyes are when you’re sitting in a dimly lit, quaint restaurant at the corner of a street.
Date a man who does all of that and travels because he will know why you have a map in your diary with places marked. Find a man who rides on his bike to places, and when you do, make no mistakes by letting him go. He will need a little push to let you ride his bike, but he will be patient when you’re learning. What he will let you do although is, hand you the map and let you explore the world with him. Date him because he is a keeper.
Date a man who does not just stop at travelling or reading or writing. Date a man who is willing to put up with a day job to earn a few riches. He is the man who understands the politics at work and is still so tender when he warms you with a snuggle while you have passed out wearing your glasses with the book heaving on your chest and the DVD still playing on the TV after a long day at work.
And when you do find this man, date him, do him, keep him because this is what love is all about and letting him go would be just so wrong.
