Shadows and suspension…
The show is up
The end is soon
A sneak peek
Weld maps…
Time is a construct and nothing is linear…
Being the only artist in a room full of stem majors at a conference is not my idea of a fun day- but catch my conference drag…
Legs for days…
I kind of want to get a pair of tabi boots so I can match the sculptures…
A strange sheep…
Yes my welding leathers are purple…
A fragment of a ‘map’
That traces the creation of the weldings
No ‘map’ is an exact translation of a form
I can’t help but wonder if I’m failing
The Work is not a meditation- it is a fixation- a frustration
It is intangible despite being wholly tangible
Something about Sontag’s “Notes on ‘Camp’”
Planing out a costume means my camera roll is currently filled with flash photos of various high vis and day glow material
Aging the work
Melding the metal and the nylon
.
.
.
I am currently thinking about the history of nylons and stockings (a vintage sex appeal?)- how that translates to this - though the nylon I am knitting up is masonry nylon and therefore industrial- also letting it rust and melt
….
They work grows legs
Evolving into something new
It has agency
Dragging itself from place to place
There is a creeping sense of dread that follows me around-
It grows - cancerous and messy
The Work- overwhelmed and overworked- to the point of collapse
It stands alone in a crowded of its own self
One in progress- knitted masonry nylon clings to the welding as it becomes one with the form
Welding and knitting - the little forms grow legs as they evolve…
