So, I just finished fighting with this turtle and I would like to share my angst with you.
This fight was NOT fun, but for all the wrong reasons... if any of you felt sorry for Noct at the end of the game, well... don’t be. This fight made me think Noctis is suicidal more than me. :D
This fight was not the longest or the toughest boss *cough* Yiazmat *cough* however, here are some points that I have noticed:
I - Those of you who actually fought this thing without the ring (I did that once too... poor turtle...) know that when you attack him, you take damage. Okay, I guess. HOWEVER, for some reason, Noct ocassionally (8 times out of 10) refused to warp strike of point-warp when falling from the skies... so, imagine the situation: you are falling to certain death but have the ability to teleport either to your enemy or to a safe place on the ground.
Noctis’s mind: “It’s hopeless... guess I’ll just commit suicide...”
So, I fall to the ground and my HP reduces to zero. And guess what? Suddenly warp striking the enemy seems like the most awesome idea in the world... so Noct warp strikes the turtle with 0 HP and the recoil hits him SO HARD he falls to the ground like a ripe prune in danger condition...
This happened way too many times... T___T
II - How do you miss hitting something as collosal as Adamantoise? Well, when Noct actually felt like attacking (he refused to attack 9 out of 10 times...) he kept missing A MOUNTAIN THAT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM!
Noctis: “Yeah, the turtle is dangerous, but have you thought about air? Because that is what I am slicing and dicing right now - air! Air is bad for you! Bad oxygen! *slash* *whish*”
And then he fell to the ground again... T_T
III - Partnership is a beautiful thing, isn’t it? Well, f**k your hopes and dreams - because unless you are at a certain point, your friends refuse to use techniques...
Noct: “Gladio! Do it!”
Gladdy: “Well... I can, but... come a little closer, will ya? I am a bit deaf on this ear with teh turtel roaring and my sword dislikes you.”
CONCLUSION -
This battle seemed to have wanted to deliver a moral. “The greatest enemy is yourself.” No kidding, I felt like I was fighting against Noct’s nihilism as he soared through the sky, falling faster than my framerate... and I suppose others just retired back to Hammerhead for a coffee, laughing their rears off at me...
Just... *sigh*... I proved my mettle, I am content with myself. But I shan’t do it again. I’d reather eat my shoes.
