Life Update
I found out that I was given calorie numbers by the hospital that were overestimated, and that the deficit I began was my maintenance, or around it when sedentary. So...not what a former an0rexic wants to hear. I asked to be sent away somewhere because it caused me to crash out, but a girl there reminded me of myself when I was ill.
Anyway, I am on an actual deficit now, and trying to get by. On and off of that relapse mindset, so also tired. My mom got me a weight scale and life's improving but exhausting. She hasn't been able to reapply for food stamps. I've been doing ab workouts, because my stomach is my biggest insecurity. That's been super fun. It's nice feeling consistent and strong. Overall, I am trying to stay consistent in my deficit + workout, but staying consistent with schoolwork has proven difficult. That's it.
just got phone call from my neurologist WHO IS ON VACATION may his name never be erased, basically being like. "ok so your insurance is trying to kill you. I've referred dozens of people to Duke for this and this has never happened. they're being purposefully confusing and sending us all in circles. they keep sending me forms asking ME to agree to pay for your treatment no matter how many times I explain that I am THE REFERRING PHYSICIAN. so here's what you're going to do-" and gave us instructions on what to do when the health insurance corporation is trying to kill you
this is not his job. his job is being my neurologist.
his job is not "call patients after hours while I'm on vacation because I'm afraid if I don't give them this guidance their insurance company might murder them and so even though this isn't my job it feels like a fucking hostage situation"
anyway. he confirmed that the shit my insurance has been pulling for a month and a half is explicitly Trying To Kill The Patient behavior. told us to get everything in writing. sending us a whole packet of every single relevant form and piece of paperwork so we have it all on hand. told us to contact the patient advocate and if that doesn't work, we're going to have to go outside the company entirely and get the state insurance ombudsman involved.
so. that's fun. and a totally productive use of everyone's time and resources. I've had insurance companies be shitty to me but I've never been the Patient They're Explicitly Trying To Kill before. like I've never had them throw this much energy at blocking a procedure this lifesaving. it actually feels even worse than I thought it would!

every single time i bring up "eating disorders are mostly rooted in fatphobia" someone brings up binge eating disorder and. no. no that one is still definitely rooted in restrictive eating. the constant restriction is what spurs the binging. it's not the "eating too much" disorder it's the "eating a lot and feeling shame and then punishing yourself by restricting really heavily until your body gives in and has to binge again" disorder
also, not tryna stalk u this was literally the 2nd post of my home page, that's only true in some cases. Equating BED to just ''well you restricted'' is inaccurate to the disorder. Not everyone needs advice to ''restrict less'' with firsthand accounts being from channels like Honey Bison and Michelle McDanielle.
Even the truly restrictive ones are not always about "fatphobia."
More importantly, the "BED is also restrictive" gang is so annoying. That may be an element for some, or even many, people with it, but "stop restricting" advice doesn't magically fix the characteristic binge component. You need to fix the entire thing. Addressing the restriction may help a bit in some cases, but it'll never be the whole picture, and there are loads of people who binge without severe or even moderate restriction. What they call "restriction" is also often just regular eating that only looks like restriction when compared to a binge or the chronic overeating that gets called normal in those circles. How many FAs are out here calling a regular 250-500 cal deficit "starvation"? What's the overlap between those and the ones who go so hard for the idea that the problem with BED is the restriction?

it is honestly kind of funny to take the stance that BMI isn't enourmously problematic because the weight classifications have been "adjusted" since its inception when the real problem of "it is literally just your height divided by your weight, which tells you fuck all about the status of someone's health" is still fundamentally there

i'm not a bigot, i was fat, i have a chubby boyfriend whom i love, i love the fat people in my life. it is just that you cannot deny reality or science. you cannot tell me people pushing 300lbs are healthy. stop cherrypicking your arguments and trusting podcasts for your information. i saw clips today of REAL PEOPLE who were so fat they could hardly move or live their lives.

also, maintenance phase is full of misinformation, and there's an episode where they are literally pressuring the 3rd girl to talk to them about her sex and masturbation life while she's clearly uncomfortable. i wouldn't trust them with my life.
I think the fact that you dont see any elderly morbidly obese people should be a wake up call for some people but it unfortunately isnt. Once all these FAs start turning 40 or 50 years old they'll see why.
