The swirl of red tendrils in the water between them greeted him whenever he closed his eyes for days following their pact. A dagger cutting deeper and deeper into Caleb’s palm as what little blood he had left oozed from the cut. The warmth of their hands clasped together with their open wounds pressed against each other. Determination in Caleb’s eyes as he gripped a little tighter before letting go. The steady sting of salt water against the wound on their way back to the surface.

The stress of the day weighed heavily on Caleb’s shoulders, but he still had one more meeting to attend before he could decompress. This meeting in particular was one he couldn’t put off any longer even if he wanted to. The previous times his council requested they meet something else more pressing popped up and he had to cancel. With no excuses to avoid it, Caleb let out a heavy sigh before pushing through the door to the council chambers.

Arms wrapped around his waist from behind as lips pressed against his spine for a quick kiss that caused him to shiver. While he was tempted to turn, he kept his eyes focused on the rolling waves of the sea stretched out before him. The beginnings of the sun peeking out for a new day rose on the horizon, mixing the midnight blue of the evening with the bright yellow of the day. Birds were swirling in the sky looking for their first meal of the day and the sound of people getting an early start filled the air.

We also will be having a special Month Prompt with the overall theme of .... PRIDE! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 We wanted to have a prompt set aside for those who wanted to participate in this event, but maybe didn't feel they could commit to an entire week. So, at the end of the month of July we'll collect and retweet all of the Pride Specific art and fic created by this lovely community in that month. If all goes well we'd like to continue this trend in the future by coming up with a prompt each month for everyone to create around!

Summary: “Y’know,” he starts out, voice thick with emotion, “I never thought I’d be here. Never thought I’d get a chance to be part of somethin’ like this.”

Caleb looks at him with an infinite amount of softness, lifting one hand to gently smudge away the wetness forming under Fjord’s eyes. “Careful, schatz. I do not know how waterproof Jester’s paints are.” 

Fjord laughs, and it’s only a little watery. Caleb holds his gaze, hand dipping down to gently cradle his jaw, and Fjord understands the unspoken words easily.

It tastes like copper and it’s hot and rushed and needy and it’s blood and sweat all together. The warlock moans in Caleb’s mouth as the man’s hand glows again and presses over the bullet wound just above his left arm. Fjord’s feels his muscle fibers being pulled apart and then knitted back together, and it burns like skin over open flame, which he knows is not too far off to what’s happening. He bites Caleb’s lips until they bleed, while a tear escapes from the corner of his eyes.

This kind of injures are to be expected with this kind of job, but that doesn’t make them easier to deal with.

Summary:

They say opposites attract. That shy creatures bask in the light of an open grin, or that wilting flowers preen in the presence of a youth in bloom. Or that the day cannot be without the night, or that sea is nothing without the land.

That fire is only as strong as its watery counterpart.

Fjord doesn’t think he and Caleb are opposites. They are far too similar to be that, but he thinks there might be something about their similarities that makes their relationship what it is.

Here’s my @widofjordweek contribution based off of the prompt “fire and water” It’s the fluffy sequel to my angsty fic i must be good for something where Caleb teaches Fjord magic and altars a spell when it doesn’t quite work for Fjord.

This was the ultimate labor of love, written on my phone between two countries and countless of hostels. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it!!
