on march 15, the largest protest in serbia’s history took place in the capital, with some estimates ranging between 800,000 and 1,000,000 people on the streets. however, there were incidents of organized attacks on demonstrators—people were trampled, hit with stones and firecrackers, and tear gas was deployed. the most extreme action by the police was the use of a sound cannon (LRAD), which triggered a stampede. dozens of people were injured.

I will spare The Rest of You the Law and Justice Extended Universe walkthrough, but the things you need to know about Zbigniew Ziobro are:
1) He is the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General in the PiS government(s) (known by such hits as “LGBT-free zones”) and was one of the main architects of the neo-KRS debacle, resulting in a) Poland having some of its EU funding withheld entirely for the duration of that government, b) a corrupt Supreme Court;
2) We use his last name as a synonym to zero, specifically in the phrase ziobro zdziwienia (equivalent to zero zdziwienia, meaning “no surprise there” (literally “zero surprise” - i am not getting into Polish grammatical cases over this though);
3) He filed a motion in the Supreme Court that transgender people should also sue their spouses and children during the transition process, in addition to suing their own parents (as it was until now).
However, in between him filing that motion and the hearing, the government has changed.
PiS is no longer in power.
And the Supreme Court ruled that trans people should not sue anyone. At all.
“From now on, therefore, gender reconciliation cases will not require suing one's own parents, instead there will be a non-proceeding at the request of the transgender person.”
