Honestly the main reason I think Kunikida has some tragic backstory is because of his refusal to let anyone die in front of him.

Because you know who else carries that mentality of wanting to save those in front of them no matter what? Yosano and Atsushi and it comes directly because of the pain and suffering they’ve endured.

In Bungou Stray Dogs those that who have suffered the most that turn out to be the kindest. By Ranpo’s own admission in the Cannibalism arc Kunikida is the strongest and most virtuous person in the Agency. To the point it’s why the enemy keeps trying to break him first.

Because if Kunikida falls and loses his heart they’ve all lost so yeah I can imagine someone like him cultivated that kind of compassion after experiencing hell on earth.

sometimes i feel normal but then i remember the fact that kunikida and akutagawa tried to kill each other in the main story

Makes me feel so incredibly sick. Like oh okay, break my heart guys, no worries. It's not like you're incredibly close in another universe, no. It's not like you pulled him out of the darkness.
