They had screwed up, big time. He knew that all too well. And he had no excuses. Jenny’s - though it was Sarah now, wasn’t it? - fiery anger was justified. Mick wished he could - quite literally - turn back time and make things right. Though with how unstable the timelines were, he would be more likely to blink Jenny out of existence.
“Then don’t talk about it.” He watched her back as she viciously attacked the punching bag, sensing her emotions in every solid blow from her fists.
He moved then, ducking around her to get in her way. “Look. I get it. You’re pissed. You got every right to be. You don’t gotta talk either. But it’s me - us - you’re angry at, not the punching bag.”
Maybe it was stupid. But it was one of the few ways he knew how to solve issues like this. When he and Leonard were at odds, a fight was how they fixed it. Maybe that wouldn’t work now; Jenny wasn’t Leonard. But maybe it’d help a little bit, offering the option.
For a moment, Sarah’s fist met with nylon covered weights, not nearly as resistant to her blows as it normally was, given the intensity of her hits. But then there was something solid, warm and decidedly human standing in her way, her fist pulled back to land another blow but frozen in midair.
He...he wanted her to hit him? Figures. They were never conventional parents. And apparently they were also crime fighters from the future, who abandoned their daughter.
She hesitates for only a moment or two - really, aside from the abandonment, he had been a good father to her...but the abandonment had left scars inside her that couldn’t be treated the way physical scars could. And then, with a noise of frustration, she let her fist sail forward to land a solid blow against his chest.
“Oh, I am BEYOND pissed!” Sarah cried out, landing another blow for good measure. “Do you know how long I spent worrying about you? Where Mom was taken to a separate women’s prison? If you and Dad would ever see each other again? If you’d be able to get a hold of me when you got out?”
Her hand falls limp at her side after a beat, the fight slowly draining out of her. “You didn’t even say goodbye.”
