man actually trying to edit wikipedia to add content is a pain. it starts with going 'hey this article about a bat is a stub! what if i fix that up' and before you know it you're on a website that looks like it hasn't been redesigned since 2004 trying to figure out whether some random nonprofit from maine is posting genuine bat research or not
that being said i have never felt more alive in my life and i would totally recommend it
just found the wikiproject thats right for me. or well, the task force in a wikiproject!

i love bats. if you need me i will be editing wikipedia articles about bats. biology articles feel a little simpler and lower stakes for me so i might be able to contribute actual content
im back to editing wikipedia!! been a while
i fixed a typo and then reverted some obvious vandalism. Got pretty much nothing else done because I panicked about which warning template to use on the vandal's talk page until the bell rang and i had to leave with no warning at all
its fine, I figure, they've been warned plenty. But still, why am I like this?
technically the templates ARE optional so I might go without and just flat out type something out myself next time
im back just to spill some thoughts
sometimes when wiki editing, you try and fix a mistake, and it turns out to not be a mistake at all. or you make a typo. or whatever the case may be. and you feel a bit foolish
but you just gotta keep going. everyone makes mistakes, and people usually understand there's a person on the other side of the screen.
nobody's perfect, that's why a wiki is built off the work of many people. so mistakes one might miss can be caught by someone else
be bold, and keep your chin up, and keep going :)
the other thing abt being obsessed w wikipedia is that the moment i close the tab the information flies out of my head. but for a brief moment in time i am educated

why do sports articles always seem to break MOS:EDITORIAL?? its always the sports people i see with opinions put in instead of letting the facts speak for themselves
to all those who dislike the wikipedia redesign: it takes an account but you can change it back! (sorry to everyone who’s banned, you’ll have to live with whatever that new design is.) here’s a quick tutorial :)
create an account. skip this if you already have one lol. i recommend doing a quick readthrough of the username policy, which you can find by clicking ‘help me choose’ on the account creation screen. this isn’t a how to make a wikipedia account tutorial and i think it’s pretty intuitive but if this needs clarification feel free to ask
ok, now you’ve got an account. go to ‘preferences’ in the upper right corner. feel free to fiddle around here a bit but what you’re looking for is the ‘appearance’ section!
the theme you’re looking for is Vector legacy (2010), not to be confused with Vector (2022) which is the one you’re on. click it, and then scroll down and hit save. presto! wikipedia is bearable again! feel free to fiddle around with other themes. monobook is pretty. but if you just want things back to normal, vector legacy is what you’re after. and boom!

optional, but have fun with your new account! do some edits, contribute, be bold. check out the rules at some point, probably. don’t do anything banworthy at least or you’re stuck with the new theme lol. i don’t have all too much advice for new wikipedians but if you have questions feel free to ask! also the wikipedia adventure is a kind of game thing that should help you learn the ropes decently, recommend giving it a try. if you just look it up on wikipedia it’s not too hard to find

this to say i am going to write fanfic of trope-tan from tv tropes bc i just noticed the redesign and if anyone wants to hear my hc concept id be up to share it
was looking through a wikipedia name filter thing, just for fun, and i thought this was funny lol
a lot of the rest are yikes-y though, wow ppl have named themselves some nasty stuff
honestly the dedication someone had to change this article (not saying what article as to not draw attention to them, i do not wish to glorify disruptive editing behavior or give them attention if they’re a vandal) to say santa is real is impressive. they like added PARAGRAPHS of info about it
this edit stayed for months. which like yeah i get since a santa-related article wouldn’t get many hits in like may and simple english is a less popular wiki than the bigger english wikipedia, but wow. finally bothered to revert it just now. had to do it manually and got a message warning me about blanking articles. lets hope nobody checks the recent changes and gets the wrong idea XD

anyway first post i wish wikivampires and wikifallen (including wikishadows) were less bad in behavior because wow they are by far the coolest wikifauna by concepts and i love the vibe. i dont wanna be rude to newbies just to get fangs!!
