Today my seven year old cousin said, in reference to the subject of pirates:
“It’s one of my distant likes. I still really like it when it comes up.”
And I just had to record it somewhere because I think it’s such a wise and simple way of expressing an important concept. Sometimes I feel like I’m neglecting an interest if I don’t do anything about it for a long period of time, like I can’t really say I like it if I don’t keep it up, but no, it’s just… it’s a distant like. That’s its own thing now.
She gets philosophical when in fancy dress, apparently.
i like this term. your small relation is very wise.

Pumpkin season is coming and I’m just sitting here, dreading. Waiting. Fuck why.
[screenshot of an anonymous ask with the text: what the fuck you have against pumpkin season? You some kind of halloween grinch?]
I am severely allergic to winter squash including pumpkins. They cause me to have seizures. Pumpkin season, which lasts until the end of November, is difficult, dangerous, and stressful for me because of this. This is not reflective of any opinions I have about pumpkins as a cultural phenomenon.
oh for jfldasjflkd
you are one of a handful of people I know that have this issue. a friend of mine has to have her husband do all the shopping this time of year b/c pumpkins are everywhere in the grocery store, and she can’t have Starbucks until the PSL is gone b/c there’s too much risk of cross-contamination. and those are only the issues she’s mentioned to me.
ppl need to learn that not every post is a personal attack holy cripes folks have reasons for having personal fears/anxieties you weren’t even yelling just expressing stress fjdkals
Wow, I’m not alone! I have never actually met anybody else with winter squash allergies.
Ever since they started adding real pumpkin to the pumpkin spice lattes, the steam rising off them has proved to be a real problem. I am peanut allergy level sensitive to winter squash and melons, and no one puts warning labels out for those, sadly. It’s a real pain.
And yeah Nonny, you could have been a lot nicer. My post was not an attack on you or your Halloween enjoyment.
yeah, you are one of three in my orbit allergic to winter squash. the third I’ve never met/spoken to, just know through the RL friend I mentioned.
there’s so many things people can be allergic to that aren’t well known–I’ve known three people allergic to bananas, at least one so allergic to cinnamon we couldn’t walk past Cinnabun in the mall, folks with reactions to nutmeg… it’s crazy that there aren’t stricter labeling laws for food b/c almost anything you can think of, someone is allergic to
but we can’t even get consistent labeling for some of the well-known allergens. it sucks :/
You know four people allergic to bananas, because I am too, and there is a really high crossover between banana allergy and latex allergy. I am also allergic to nutmeg. And cumin. And cardamom. And saffron. The way companies list “spices” as an ingredient instead of listing them out is a massive pain.
“spices,” “natural flavors,” and “natural colors” are good ways to make people with food allergies cry over an ingredients label
>:/ it’s endlessly frustrating how little they get away with listing. I had a mushroom allergy reaction a while back though the ingredients list didn’t have any of the mushroom I can’t have. So it was contamination or mislabeled? Who knows! They don’t care. Just like I have pure silver ear rings that still set off my nickel allergies. And god forbid you have chemical allergies because if it’s not food they don’t have to list anything! It makes me so angery and I’ve had a poor lady at work double over from walking too close to the pesticides accidentally. And co-workers who cant even walk into the garden section during Christmas because of a pine tree allergy, yet have reactions constantly as customers wave their trees around the store without thought.
Basically I really wish the world was far more accepting and accommodating to allergies. Cuz just fuck. It’s torturous.
All of this
I made another fundamentally bad pun into shirts and quite frankly an appalling number of other products here. Once again, my garbage sense of humor is easily tickled.
The Dryad’s Forest:
It is mistakenly believed that Dryads are bound to a tree or forest in particular. While empathic to their own area, Dryads may move freely at any time if so desired. Most adult dryads who have settled into an area do generally keep their claim for life. However, environmental pressure, stress, injury, or illness may necessitate a dryad move to a new location. While their tree species will not change (as it is set in childhood) Dryads can prove to be surprisingly adaptable.
While their origins are muddled, a Dryad’s intended purpose is clear. Dryads are stewards of the wild. In their best ideal, they assist with the care of their chosen home, usually a territory of several dozen acres (or more.) They ensure that their lands are healthy and fit, and that use of them (if they will allow it) remains fair and sustainable. To this end they are equipped with an incredible sense of empathy, and what can be considered nearly if not completely telepathic abilities that extend to all living things. A Dryad’s forest is known for its intelligence, health, and strength.

Not sure who this is, but the sketch asked to be finished so finished it is. Seems like someone who might know Parnassus maybe.
I would like to say more, but I’ve not really figured it out yet. Ah well, I suppose I will.
Less talk more art about Dryads! Here is all the art from my dryad posts compiled.
In short; Dryads are a magically derived humanoid race with a complex reproduction and development cycle that are extremely empathic to their own kind and the natural world around them. While they are not bonded to a particular tree or space, they are still stewards of wild spaces, keep to themselves, and are not generally well known or understood outside of their own kind.
While all content for this species is viewable here on Tumblr, my Paterons can view this guide in a singular posting on Pateron.

This is important!!!
Why would you mark a house you intend to steal from, presumably in a code known to other thieves? What possible advantage could you have to giving away your mark in a codified system? Especially something which could easily be seen by the homeowner/police?
Most of these are UK road works markers
And another source if you don’t like BBC
It seems like the original information came from the Daily Mail, which is not a legitimate news source. This comes up a few times under the name ‘Da Pinchi Code’ and is rebutted every now and again. I’ve seen several variations of ‘mysterious signs painted on the curb!’ usually relating back to utilities services (in the US and UK). Snopes is a great place to check this sort of thing, but google is there too.
I’ve been meaning to get photos of this beautiful little creature for a while now. This is my Cuarto Darkhorn in Deep Ocean. So wonderfully expressive, and the color has such incredible interest and depth. I just touched on a little bit more color to allow the claws and horns to stand out. The eyes are orange jelly opals.
Inspired by a lot of the little details at the Grand Lodge hotel in Forest Grove, I always love doing weird little sets of things.
I’ve added some new things to my Redbubble including the AAAs, Somewhere in a Jar stickers, and the eye birds, fish, and frogs.
“Quiet Pines”
A gift for @tumblywumblies for her birthday! This was a very spur of the moment idea, and I had to go through with it. The actual piece has liquid leaf (which never photographs well) but looks great in person. I’ve done some digital augmentation to give the effect. I’d like to do more in a series of these.
Thinking about sparkledogs I suppose. Sparkledogs and Egypt.
Trying a couple things: more varied line-work (there’s work to be done as always) and more comfort with pared back coloring.
