Oh so.. I’m not important. Well that sums so much up.
I was talking about your attitude not being important right now.
But if you want to twist my words, go for it.
What attitude?
The little shit attitude.
Oh well. Not important.
Those things are gross. Â Speaking of gross though, mind if I get one?
They might be gross, but there sure is something satisfying about them.
Definitely, help yourself.
"Do you need something? I hope you are not just looking to waste my time."
It's a good thing I brought back tampons.
What's with the attitude?
I guess if all else fails we can figure out how to grow our own tobacco, but if we did that and smoked straight tomacco, wouldn’t that technically be like smoking cigars?Â
Probably not, but it’s still a thought.Â
It's better than nothing.
If we find the right place and the right supplies, we can probably pull it off.
Tell me about it. Just think of the day when they run out.Â
Now, don't say such a thing.
They'll pop up where we least expect them. Don't want to think of a world without cigarettes.
Been far too long without a smoke. Kind of forget how amazing these little sticks are.
Gabriel and Shawn.
He listened to the other male speak and just shook his head. Alex had never been one who was much for following rules. He should have known that something would end up going down out here with him. Hell he was surprised that he hadn’t found the man with a cult of followers that would do anything he asked at the drop of a hat. That would have been the real amusement for him. It was too bad he hadn’t come across that, he’d have loved shutting it down. For now he wanted to make Gabriel as comfortable as he possibly could so when he asked about seeing the children, Shawn pointed him in the direction of the room they’d been given. “Don’t worry, we’re not keeping them locked up or anything. Not like we could though, those two seem like they just do whatever they want. I bet they’re a handful.” He retreated down the hall once again, only to return with Judith and Carl in tow. “See, I told you, perfectly safe. Now I don’t want you trying to get out of here right this second. You’ve still got a lot of healing to do, but that place they were talking about, its only about a mile from here.” He paused for a moment, letting the two children take in the sight of the man they’d come here for, and watching them hug onto him like he was the last sane person in the world. He smiled softly at the sight and then clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. “Don’t be too rough with him, he’s still healing, and if he wants to check out that place he’s going to be needing all the strength he can get, because I damn sure am not pushing him around in a wheelchair.” He looked Gabriel over for a moment before shaking his head once again, “You really need some clean clothes, man. I’ve probably got some around here that’ll fit you, if you want to put something clean on. You can also probably get cleaned up, though about the closest thing we have to a shower is some baby wipes. At least you won’t stink, right?” He shouted for one of the others who lived there to bring some clean clothes and a package of baby wipes to them, before taking his seat again at the table. “You know, you could just stay here if you want. You don’t have to move, and I don’t know how many are in your group, but we’ve got plenty of room.”
A light shrug merely pulled over his shoulders. "They're good kids." He knew they were stubborn, especially when it came down to something they thought was absolutely necessary. He waited for them to get back, about to speak until they had latched on. He chuckled and eased up since he saw they were okay, just wrapping his arms around both, rolling his eyes a bit. "I'll remember that when the day comes I have to push your ass around." He retorted, of course willing to stay back a few more days to get just a little bit more healed up so they could go. He had wasted enough time, having to make that time up. He let go of them, quickly agreeing to the mention of clean clothes, ending up pausing. His nose wrinkled when he realized he wasn't exactly smelling too good, taking the baby wipes and clothes willingly. As much as he would have liked to stay, he had responsibility as well, and he knew the place wasn't going to be able to hold them all. He had to shake his head, "Can't. We've got too many people." His lips pursed for a moment. "We can team up, find us a place that both our groups can move into. More people... it'd be safer." He wasn't hesitant on letting his group join as well. He trusted him and knew he wouldn't offer t have him and his group stay somewhere the people weren't safe. He excused himself, assuring that they could talk it over once he got back. He didn't like feeling and being so dirty, especially with that clothes on. He got himself stripped down once he got back to where he was since it was private, getting the package opened. He scrubbed down, just being careful around the stitches, but cleaned them down a bit. He got the clothes on, sighing rather contently, feeling much fresher, that boosting his mood and energy up a bit more. He got his stuff and just tossed it all out, knowing it wasn't any good anymore. They were covered in dried up blood and holes, that wasn't something he could fix now. He just strapped his shoes back on and used some of the wipes on his hair before he left the room, instantly slumping into a chair when he was back out, having tried to stay on foot for as long as possible, but he just felt completely worn out. He leaned forward in his seat, turning back to the topic from before. "We can check the place they found in a few days. But after that, I have to go and make sure everything is okay at the prison." He was clearly angsty, worried about what was going over there, especially with the whole dilemma happening with the cannibals. He rubbed his temple, the thought bringing forth a bit of a headache. "Look, I just don't want to leave here and lose contact with you again. I'll hunt your ass down and bring you back with me." He wasn't exactly kidding, either. He wasn't going to let him wander off again, not when he knew he was actually alive. He was set on now finding a bigger place than for just his prison group, some place big enough to fit both groups in. And maybe with any luck, the place Judy and Carl found might just be the place.
Gabriel and Shawn.
Shawn watched Gabriel eat the sandwich and had to cover his mouth to keep from laughing out loud as the sandwich disappeared in a matter of seconds.  He knew that his friend had to be starving, and from the looks of it the sandwich hadn’t even helped a little.  ”Lets get you some food and I’ll tell you all about it while you eat.”  He left for a few moments, coming back with a couple backs of chips that were most likely stale, and a couple more of the vending machine sandwiches, along with a bottled water and a soda.  ”Sorry, there isn’t really much choice on what to eat around here, so you’ve got a turkey sandwich and a tuna salad one.  Hope you’re not allergic.”  He chuckled and took a seat in the other chair, placing the food down on the table for the other man to eat.  ”Now for your questions.  I’ve been with this group for a while now.  I didn’t even know if you were still alive or not, and most people that we knew are dead.  Apparently you took care of Alex.  Can’t say I was sorry to see him dead though.”  He laughed that time, a throaty laugh and shook his head, “As far as where you are, its a public library, we’re not far from the prison, and there are two of your group members here.  Leilani sent me toward the prison to inform them that you were here, and I found them along the way.  A boy and girl, probably around sixteen or seventeen.  They claim to have found a place for your group to go, so I figure when you’re better, we can check that out, unless you have something else that you’d rather be doing.”
He settled back, scanning around the place with a bit of curiosity. He knew he was going to have to make something in order to make it up to them. Not only did they save his life, but he was being fed as well. He shook his head, his lips pinching. How could he ever repay someone saving his life? That was a dept he could never pay off, but he would try. He snapped out of his thoughts, his gaze setting on the food. He didn't care if it was stale or anything, food was food. And right then, it looked like something gourmet. He heard his stomach growl a little, getting a bit embarrassed over it, only to scoff. "Yeah, you wish." He teased, taking the water first since he wanted to get his mouth and throat wet. He listened to him speak as he placed the cap back on it and set it on the floor by his feet, unwrapping the turkey sandwich. He shook his head, suddenly his appetite going down a bit at the mention of the Cannibal. "He didn't exactly give me much of a choice." He assured, not wanting for it to seem like he decided to turn on someone he used to know. He took a bite, raising a brow when two of his group was mentioned. Now he was really worried. What if everyone was wandering out of the prison? However, when he heard the description, he couldn't help but actually chuckle. He wasn't entirely surprised it was those two. "That would be Carl and Judith." He took another sip of water, trying to keep it slow this time so he wouldn't make himself sick. He grew interested in what they found, knowing he couldn't pass it up. They were smart kids, and wouldn't mention it if it was useless, so he trusted their judgement. "I'd rather be relaxing at my mansion, but since that's not happening, I guess we can check it out." He began to feel himself ease up a little more than usual, knowing it was because of the past they shared. "Where are they?" He wanted to see them, make sure they were okay. And if anyone would have news from the prison, it would be them. He stood, wanting to get some fresh air as well. He paused and shifted, causing for his back to pop in various places, causing him to groan a bit. It brought instant relief, yet decided not to push it and keep stretching about and possibly messing up the stitches.
Gabriel and Shawn.
Sitting down in the chair, he propped his feet on a small table that was sitting nearby, before he leaned back against the door, resting his head on it and closing his eyes.  It had been a rough few days, and he hadn’t been getting much sleep since he’d brought Gabriel back with him.  When he’d found the man’s body, he’d thought that more than likely the man would die.  It had seemed like he’d lost a lot of blood, and as far as what Shawn had seen in the past months, you couldn’t survive out here, especially since there was just no medicine.  But now it seemed like he could rest easy.  Elijah had said that Gabe was pretty much out of the woods, and since Shawn had brought back those children from the prison, he figured they probably couldn’t wait for him to wake up either.  They seemed to be rather broken up about him being injured, and kept whispering about losing too many people.  He wasn’t sure what they meant because they’d never actually spoken to him, but he imagined that was because they probably didn’t trust him.  He’d just have to wait for Gabriel to wake up to clear that up.  Now he was resting, his mind finally allowed itself to drift off to sleep, but just when he was about there, the door he was propped up on, opened.  His chair overturned and as he tried to catch himself, he wound up on the floor, peering up at the person who’d opened the door.  ”Gabriel!”  His eyes went wide and he sat there for another moment before scrambling to his feet and grabbing the left over half of his sandwich from the table where he’d been sitting.  ”Here, you should eat this.  You haven’t eaten in days, and I’m pretty sure that you’re going to be needing your strength.”  He held the sandwich out to the man in front of him, and reached down to pick up the chair.  ”Also, you should sit down, before you pass out again, and I’ll go and get you some more food and something to drink.”
He went into a defensive mode when he saw the the other male, taking him a second to recognize who was standing in front of him. His eyes widened, that definitely being the very last face he expected to see. Hell, if it wasn't for him actually saying his name, he would have that he was having some sort of hallucination. He glanced down and took the sandwich, giving him a nod as gratitude, not being able to form any real words for the moment. He gladly took a seat, knowing that he wasn't going to be able to hold himself up for much longer. He probably should have been a little more careful with his eating manners, but couldn't afford to care as he crammed what was left of the sandwich into his mouth, not bothering to care or take a second to savor any taste it might have had. He was slowly trying to process everything. How did he find him? What did he think? Where was he? His eyebrows knitted together, his attention turning to him completely. "Where have you been?" He finally questioned, of course having wondered if he was still out there, somewhere, well and alive. Now that he was in front of him, the world really did seem extremely small. He glanced around the room, trying to piece together where he was. "Where am I?" He wanted to know how far from the prison he was, knowing he had to get to them and let them know he was okay-to make sure that they were also okay and had supplies. With Rick gone, and now him, he didn't know how out of order things might be.
Gabriel and Shawn.
A groan escaped his lips, slowly beginning to wake up. He hadn't realized just how many days he had been out, his eyes feeling heavy as he tried to open them. The light seemed more intense than usual, causing him to squeeze them shut the moment that he had tried to open them, causing him to place one hand over his eyes to manage some shade. He got adapted to it, but had to squint at times, his head beginning to throb, feeling light headed when he sat up. He examined the room around him, definitely not recognizing the place. He knew he wasn't back at the prison, which worried him. However, new thoughts instantly invaded his mind. He was alive. Somehow. He felt his heart rate instantly beginning to increase... did the other cannibals find him? Did they keep him alive to torture him and make it worth bringing him back? No. He'd expect a couple of missing limbs. And now that he examined his injuries, he could see the clean stitch job and bandages, knowing that whoever had saved him truly had meant to. He rubbed his throat, the thoughts of the dryness disappearing once he found the rest of his clothes, which were still a bloody mess and ripped. However, they'd do for now. But he'd have to do something about it, knowing he couldn't walk back to prison looking like that. He drew in a deep breath, every single step being harder than the last. He was still rather weak and was still in the process of healing. He slipped on his shirt and shoes, knowing he couldn't get too comfortable without knowing exactly who had saved him and why. He was shaky, causing him to grow hesitant. He could easily be over powered, then again it wouldn't do him any good to just lay there much longer. He pushed open the door, hissing when it creaked.
The End.
Feeling a pair of knuckles connecting to his jaw, his head swung back from the impact. However, his jaws clenched before his own fingers curled up into a fist, taking a swing. His balance was completely off, causing his attempt to falter. Alexander was able to catch his arm in time and twist around into a better angle, bringing his knee up and connecting it to the males stomach, with enough force to knock the air out of him. He doubled over, not seeming to have another ounce of will left in him. He was exhausted, and every movement brought forth some sort of pain. He hated to admit just how much damage the male had inflicted on him. His eyes squeezed shut, trying to rid the blurriness that was betraying his vision. A smirk grazed over the Cannibal's lips, feeling quite proud of his victory. He took a step back to admire his work, even if he had just about the same amount of damage. With every inhale, he felt a sharp jab to his ribs, with every step he took, his muscles ached. Frankly, it was all very well worth it. Reaching down to his holster, his fingers wrapped around the handle of his knife, slowly drawing it out to taunt the other. Of course he would draw this out as much as possible, he had every reason to. His meal was chased away, but more importantly, his partner was murdered. He ached for revenge, wanted to taste its sweet victory. Nik's death replayed in his mind, leaving him seeing red. Swinging the knife forward, Gabriel quickly acted and put his hand up, causing for the male's wrist to slam against his arm, a hiss being drawn from his lips. He attempted to toss the knife into his other hand, knowing he could catch it in mid air, the idea leaving when he felt Gabriel's palm slamming straight against his nose, being sent reeling a few steps back. He hadn't realized he dropped the knife on impact, his eyes settling on his weapon before it lifted to the other male, knowing both of their objective would be to retrieve it. Gabriel had lost his own knife a while back, so he'd try to snatch it up and use it against him. He lunged at it, not realizing his mistake. Gabriel was waiting for this move, having been reading his features to try and see what his next move would be. He had to try and stop acting on anger, knowing he had to start thinking. He knew how to fight, he knew how to kill. Now was the time to put his training forward, but the male knew him well, he knew his moves, he knew how he thought. But so did he, and he'd be taking it to his advantage now. He swung his foot forward, his boot connecting to the others face when he had leaned down. He felt his tooth moving out of place, nearly swallowing it when he had fallen back. He quickly recovered and spit it out, getting blood on his lips. He waited on Gabriel to grab the weapon, following his every movement. He grabbed the knife and tossed it to him, clearly mocking him. No. He didn't need a weapon to kill the Cannibal. He was going to do it with his own hands. He drew in a sharp breath and snatched up the weapon, his blood beginning to boil. He didn't mind using the knife, since he wanted to use him to rip him apart. This was delayed since Gabriel continued to dodge with ease, keeping track of his moves, seeming to know where he would swing again. What he didn't see coming was the bite Alex gave his wrist, using enough force to actually cut through his skin and draw blood, the sudden pain leaving him defenseless, giving the Cannibal enough time to plunge the knife into his side. With a twist, he pulled it out, a sudden gasp being drawn from Gabriel's lips. He pressed his hand to his side, feeling the blood already rushing. He couldn't resist it for too long, knowing the affects of blood loss would begin to play soon. He winced, but refused to cry out when he felt the knife being plunged into his shoulder once more, his vision once more beginning to betray him worse off than the last time. He had made an attempt to block the next attack, but it only caused the knife to be impaled into his hand. His mind seemed to spark, a new energy coursing through him. He curled his fingers and jerked his hand back, leaving the male unable to even pull the knife back out. "Son of a..." He lunged forward, leaving Gabriel just enough time to yank the knife out of his hand, twisting and clasping the handle. The Cannibal was left without a breath when he felt the knife in his chest, gripping onto Gabriel's shoulders. They were both panting for air, their hues locking briefly as he drew the knife back out and stabbed it back into him, this time leaving the knife inside. He used the last force he had and pushed him back, both of them toppling to the ground. At least the cold was beginning to numb some of his aches away, but he suddenly realized the numbing sensation wasn't the cold. He grunted as he forced himself into a sitting position, his head tilting to glance at the other. His chest was no longer moving, but he knew he'd be walking about soon enough. It seemed eternal to half-crawl over to him and bring the knife out, unable to plunge the knife all the way through his head. But it was enough, enough to keep him from coming back. He collapsed right next to him, knowing he wouldn't be able to move for as much as he attempted to. Every inhale was a struggle, harder than the last. Eventually, they grew shallow. His eyes slowly closed, unable to keep them open any longer. Maybe it was better like this, than to fight. He could just drift away peacefully... no need to worry nor fight any longer. A slight smile, a final exhale. He was gone.
"I finally get better and we are already leaving?"
At least now you're healthy enough to travel.
It's not safe here, anymore. So it's for the best.
I was told I should speak with you, Gabriel.  Usually I have all my dealings with Rick, but my source wouldn’t tell me why I should come to you, so  would you care to explain?
Rick is no longer with us. Which means I'll be taking over what he used to be in charge of. I hope that won't be a problem.
I just feel like… we have drifted apart a little… I wasn’t sure if.. you still wanted me to be around. I have myself to blame for that. I was never around…. you are not weak, Gabriel. You are one of the strongest people I know. You will never be a burden to me. I always feel like a burden to you. You are always protecting me.
Yeah, well if I was, he'd probably still be here. I don't feel as capable of protecting you as I did before.
So from now on, I'll be teaching you as much as I can. Once we settle in, I think it'll be best for everyone else to learn a thing or two.
I would advise taking all the blankets we can find and make sure everyone has their jackets while we travel. The children will at least need two blankets. I don’t want you to carry this burden alone, Gabriel. I’m here for you…. if you want me to be.
I was planning on doing a quick run to try and find some more blankets and jackets. Try and squeeze a bit more fuel for the road.
And of course I do.
I just don't want to become a burden to you or anyone. Especially when I'm supposed to have all the answers now, and know what to do. I just can't afford to be weak.
