Women can be trash and abusive as well.
Fact
This statement is taken so lightly. For one women don’t believe they can be abusive and the view of society on men prohibits the fact that a woman could successfully mentally, physically and emotionally abuse a man.
I went through all the notes. And a lot of y'all faves don’t even like or reblog things like this
^^^ because they’re the women that this post is about.
This is very important
Whoop there it is

Romance novels centred around black characters
It’s really hard to find romantic books featuring black women. Most popular books centred around black women are based on some sort of suffering and or abuse. Whilst it is important for their stories to be told, it is quite disheartening there is so little representation in other genres.
Until There Was You - All he was looking for was some peace and quiet. Instead, what ex-FBI agent Luke Grayson finds in the secluded cabin in the woods is a gorgeous, smoky-eyed woman…who just happens to be pointing a gun in his direction.

Blahhh
Literally me.
In the summer of 2008 Mackayla’s boyfriend says “Only bitches go to river beaches" but he doesn’t mean bitches the way I mean it. Still we go with him, park crooked in the dirt beneath where the overpass holds the river, where rope swings dangle from every tree like birthday streamers and there is only an inch between water deep enough to dive in and your prom photo ending up on the news. And still we swing from the fraying neon chords into the cold yelp of August. And it wasn’t until years later, after Mackayla’s daughter was born but before her DUI, that I read an article about the forest service removing all of the rope swings from that stretch of the river. Half of them already cut too short to swing from by the hand of someone who watched their friend or child give their breath over to the water. And oh, my God, isn’t that just how we say "I love you” back home? As much warning as you can give without words, just a blade. Just a steady hand. How steady we stand knowing we have done all that could be done after the fact. And still we swing. And still we swing.
