Ok I’ve been working on this ogilvadi fic for like forever but I want to give you guys a sneak peek of the first few paragraphs
(also please tell me if there’s any spelling/grammatical errors for me to fix)
James Ogilvie never had a nickname before he came to PTMC.
He was always just James or Ogilvie or James O. His mom would occasionally call him pumpkin: more of a term of endearment than a nickname, like the way his friends called their girlfriend’s babe. Which is another thing James had never had. A girlfriend. But that’s neither here nor there.
He did notice, though on his first day in the Pitt, a few nicknames his coworkers had. But besides Dana calling Dr. Robby, Cap, and Garcia calling Dr Langdon E.R. Ken. Most of the nicknames came from Dr. Santos. She called Whitaker Huckleberry, which James found intriguing as Dr. Whitaker did not seem to have that many personality traits that matched up with the Mark Twain character.
Santos also called Mel sadness (so did Dr Garcia when she came down for surgery, consult), which took him an embarrassingly long time to realize it was a reference to the character from Inside Out. As he could only surmise, it was because they both had glasses.
Santos also calls Mel different medical terms that started with the prefix Mel/Mal like melatonin, or malignant.
And then there was Javadi’s nickname.
Now that that sounded like it had a story behind it.
All the other names are pretty self-explanatory besides Huckleberry, although he had been able to piece it together that it might’ve had something to do with Whittaker‘s affinity for farm life. But Javadi’s had no clear explanation by itself.
He had been meaning to ask her about it ever since the first day, but since that day ended pretty badly for him, he had gone home with his head hung low, feeling like a frame that had no picture to put in it. There was no time to ask in between their bickering on patient plans and diagnoses, he hadn’t had been able to slip in the question in between their bouts of medical jargon.
