What kind of creature is Aquilis? Gryphon? Weird-lookin dragon?

Aquilis is a dragon, specifically a Storm Drake!

They're typically covered in a mix of metallic feathers and scales, their horns are metallic and sometimes branch, and they have four wings and four eyes. They're primarily influenced by Wind and Lightning. Features-wise they can stray somewhat far from the typical lizard-esque dragon, and birdlike beaks aren't uncommon.
