"Are you a relief?" Troy asked the strange man sitting at the front desk where Miss Darbus would usually sit. She must have been very busy with the drama department to even teach such subject as simple as English to even hire a relief.

Troy arched an eyebrow at the girl's question, he then snapped out of his thoughts realizing she was probably new.

"Uh.. to you're left corridor. Do you need me to walk you there or are you good to go?"

Katniss smiled and then shook her head.  "Oh god know, we could never afford that. I just learnt from my father." She told him and then began to sing the first few words accapella. She held the sheet music in front of her and then bit her lip whilst she waited for him to join in.

Troy began a melody on the piano, beaming brightly as he began to sing the first verse. He would not have admitted to anyone but singing with Katniss was almost as if he was singing some ordinary duet with Gabriella. She understood his perspective in the musical and how Gabriella's part was supposed to be played.

  Troy played gracefully as if he had been playing for a long time. Truth in the matter was he always had interest in the arts but due to peer pressure from his father he never expressed interest. The University of Albuquerque had been chosen for him, his future was already set in stone. He just wasn’t sure if he wanted basketball. 

Troy was amazed to how Katniss owned the stage, never did he expect such motivation from a newcomer. He was beaming the whole way through rehearsal.

Katniss continued her song and then sat down next to Troy on the bench and smiled.  "What did you think?" She asked as she thumbed through her songs to find the next one and put the sheet music up for Troy. "You’re great on the piano by the way."

Troy chuckled grinning at Katniss's compliment. "Thank you, you're vocal range isn't so bad either. You've taken singing lessons before?"

He was amazed to how well he could connect with her, something he only ever had with Gabriella.

Katniss watched him settle himself at the piano and smiled.  "I didn’t know you could play as well. You’re a man of many talents Troy Bolton." She smiled and then shook her nerves away and began with the first scene. Acting was effortless to her and singing even more so but she wanted to get it right. As she sang she moved around the piano to interact with Troy and in some place flirt, a foreign concept to Katniss but he managed it.

Katniss was shocked by their enthusiasm but she just picked up her script and then bit her lip.  "Want to run over the first scene?" She asked. The set was still up from being put together. She ran her hand through her hair and waited for his answer. She had worn it down today to hide her scars and she hoped that Mrs Denver would allow her to keep it down for the show, which was unlikely.
