the genshin fandom is either made of the corniest, most illiterate, childish hoyokissers ever or the realest people, no in between. sadly, the latter is a very small minority.
no, the criticism towards character writing, especially the female ones, isn't inherently misogyny. they, like all of them, are written with the objective of being marketable, palatable and selleable, and this utterly destroys the writing of all of them, some more some less.
yes, the fanbase is mostly made of fuckers who have NEVER seen a woman and need for them to be softies or cuties in order to slide their cards, hence why most characters are uselessly softened to fit this.
yes, the male characters also suffer the consequences of existing in a stupid gacha game, but they are allowed to have a wider range of personality traits and whatnot (see Lohen, Scara, Xiao, Flins). before anyone whines, I don't like any of those mentioned and the only male characters I like are Neuvillette and Dottore, the others are just there™
YES, the writing in shit: not only misoginystic (look up benevolent misogyny and the problem with stil novo poetry), but also heavily racist and incoherent, xenofobic, ableist and fucking ugly towards indigenous peoples.
people criticizing these points above states are not the misogynists/racists, HOYO IS. they make mostly boring and/or inconsistent characters for the sake of selling, and it's totally useless going on and about it, because they will keep using the same mold and material if the fanbase accepts it.
