âOh come on, it wasnât even that bad.â

âThatâs something.â A shallow intake of breath later, hesitant footsteps edged closer to him. The back of her hand reached the graze his cheek as traces of sincerity could be detected in his voice. âI believe in you, Gaston. I think itâs time you ought to start believing yourself.â
âIt is something.â He agreed, having fought so hard to do something decent for her for Christmas. Of course, he had gone back to drinking and behaving like an idiot right after. But, wasnât the saying that it was the thought that counted? A small smile framed his features. âAnd how do I go about doing that?â

Lucy grinned widely as he spoke of this woman. âThere certainly is something incredibly attractive about someone you canât really have.â the woman took another sip of her drink before tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. âBut you do at least talk with her, correct? Have you been out on any sort of date or rendezvous with her?â she inquired. She felt like such a mom asking these questions, but given her complete lack of a romantic chapter in her own life, she was living vicariously through others.
âThere really is.â He admitted, finding Belleâs free will attractive. She didnât need him in the way most of the women in his universe did. She didnât throw herself at him. She had pride in herself in the way that no one else he knew did. âWe do talk. I got her a thoughtful Christmas present which is outside of my comfort zone. I usually just buy others what I like. But, I stopped and really thought what she might like because I could hear her yelling at me for being âselfishâ in my head.â

âI should probably get going.â She sat up and grabbed her clothes from the floor.
âProbably.â He agreed as he watched her gather her things from the floor and he went on with his own business.

7:43pm.
The stench of hairspray polluted the atmosphere around her, anxiety-ridden hands clawing at the yellow dress hugging her figure - too tight for her liking. Why yellow? Years ago her father had stated it was her colour and, nothing brought more ease than the notion that heâd be quite literally beside her on what could be, or probably would be, one of the worst nights she was yet to encounter.
The effort sheâd made balanced only how little she cared for the man, as well as the deal sheâd made all those weeks ago. At this point, what with the mountains of disappointment sheâd been wading through - it had barely scratched the surface of her mind. Sheâd dismissed it as an empty promise, but with a little persistence, bordering on harassmentâ Gaston had a way of bending her arm. And to that, she couldnât say no.
A final inspection of her teeth, not that it would matter, theyâd be tainted with cheap wine and cheaper cuisine in less than an hour - Belle was good to go. A wistful sigh from hopeful lips, and with the retrieval of her winter coat - she was out.
8:02pm.
The winter air met her skin with playful nips, making its presence known as she walked in tune with the heels of her shoes down the dirt-ridden New York streets. Dread. It filled her mind like a bucket and soon overflowed into her lungs, each breath jarred and weary, each one moreso than before. Torment and anguish littered any pleasant thoughts she dared to think of Gastonâ heâd made quite the art form out of taunting her.
âHello, Gaston.â Came a facade of friendliness as she greeted the man with the ebony hair. âI suppose you didnât expect to see me, did you?â

He had been glad to have gotten the opportunity to have dinner with Belle in the first place. He had just assumed that it wouldnât be so difficult to nail down a time and place to do so. A drink or two wouldâve helped ease some of the tension between the two. He knew that he was far from where he wanted to be with Belle. But, he knew that he was a good person, and that he could be anything that was needed.
He took a long moment in the mirror and made sure that his outside appearance was well put together. It was one thing that people could not say about Gaston--is that he was a messy looking man. He smoothed out his jacket before heading out the door. He got to the restaurant before the brunette.
He turned at the sound of her voice. âI had hoped.â
ladylucytremaine
Little use for most people. She sure did appreciate the way he looked at things. âAh, my kind of man.â Lucy grinned, bringing the glass to her lips once more. âThough, Iâm sure you have at least one person who you donât see as disposable.â
âYou have caught me. There is one that I aim to make my own.â He replied, taking a sip of his drink for a long moment. âSheâs just a bit harder to catch than I had originally thought. But, itâs so attractive.â
mia-honey-lemon
âWell you clearly know how to leave a woman satisfied.âÂ
âThat I do.â

âOne night,â Victoria repeated making a face as she took in his words. She couldnât believe what she was hearing. She was so used to men begging for another night in her bed or a proper relationship that she didnât no how to handle this.  âWell I had been suggesting making this a regular, casual thing but apparently Iâm something to be ashamed of.â
âWho said anything about being ashamed? I just happen to have other things going on that I want to keep going. I do not want to ruin my chances at the things I want just for a casual fling.â
bellexcherie
âIâm way ahead of you.â
âI hope you know that itâs not because I am ashamed of you, Belle. Iâm just trying to do better.â Which wasnât always easy for him. He still had a very loud voice in his head that was constantly telling him to drink, make comments, and do something incredibly stupid with any one who would be available.
wilderfawn
âWell itâs kind of wasteful andâŠmacabre.â
âAnd your point is?â
the-real-drizella
âI donât know, I think you could thrive on it,â she said, not necessarily suggesting anything beyond consideration of the idea,â Think of all the girls you could have lined up outside your door? Being a celebrity, no matter how you got the fame, could have itâs perks. If you donât mind the people constantly judging your every move, and a loss of privacy, it could be quite a cozy arrangement.â
As much as he liked the idea of many women lining up at his door, there was just one that he wanted in particular. He hadnât forgot about his plans even with this little detour. âIâm sure Belle wouldnât be pleased to hear about this. Probably hurt my chances.â
mia-honey-lemon
âYou sure are amazing alright.â
âI know. Itâs one thing that I never forget.â
tcmesis
âEmbarrassed? I know I am. I really have sunken to the bottom.â
âThen I suppose youâll be fine with never talking about this again.â
queenmadam
âNo, no that is not how this works. I am not the type of girl you sneak around with and keep your dirty little secret. Iâm not expecting monogamy here but I expect to be treated better than that. I deserve to be treated like the queen that I am, anything less and youâll be on my bad side and you certainly donât want to be there.â
âI was expecting this to be one night.â He admitted, noting that she seemed already resolved to have some sort of repeat occurrence. He didnât want to ruin his chances with Belle. But, she had been a bit of fun at the same time. Maybe, it couldnât hurt. âWhat are you suggesting then?â
ladylucytremaine
âItâs quite ridiculous if you ask me.â she took a long sip of her drink, âAnd people like to call me out for my show, or worse, ridicule my children because of it and then along with having no taste they suddenly also have no class.â she pursed her lips. âSorry, Iâm not actually the biggest fan of other people most of the time. I do hope I hide it well.â
âItâs alright. I generally have little use for most people.â He admitted, with a shrug of his shoulders. People were only as good as their use to him happened to be. Well, everyone but Belle. There was something special about Belle that he couldnât quite put his finger on.
the-real-drizella
âAnd what would give you that idea?â she said with a laugh. It was quite obvious that with her little thing with Rex, there couldnât be anything said,â Can you imagine the media frenzy if we did though?â
He pulled his shirt over his head and seated himself on the edge of the bed. âI could imagine. Itâd be incredibly large. As much as I love attention, i donât think Id love that sort of attention.â
mia-honey-lemon
âYes, thatâs reasonable. Is this also a one-time thing?â
âWell, that depends. I am amazing. I know this. You know this.â
