“Sorry, what did you say? I have an exam next week and I’m trying to study as much as I can.”
“Oh-.. ha, I was trying to be quiet actually, because it seemed like you were really lost in thought, I was just going to ask if you could scoot your chair in a little bit. so I could get to the computer next to you, I have to do some online night school sign up or something. How is the studying going?”
“Your resistance to seasonal flavors baffles me,” Cam teased as he took the other’s order. Rosy lips pulled into a playful smile – the young man always loved joking with the customers. He grabbed a cup from the stack on the counter, uncapping a black sharpie before scrawling their name along the side in his curly manuscript. “It’s nearly Thanksgiving, and not once have you asked for a pumpkin spice latte. That takes true skill. How do you do it?”
She’s not one for the seasonal pumpkin spice, she has never seen why it was such a big hit - why some girls lose their mind when the fall season comes. She looked over the blonde, giving a small shake of her head. “You know, Cam, as my regular barista - you know that in the mornings I am not one for the teasing, you cheeky bastard.” She shot back, leaning forward on the counter, “I will say it again, I hate pumpkin spice - let me know when the candy cane flavours are taking over the world, and I’ll give you something more special than my salted caramel and vanilla, non whip, coconut milk, mocha. ” She shot over to the person making the drinks behind him, “who’s the new meat?”
“I am really in the mood for a little drinking game - something along the lines of two truths, one lie. If you can’t figure out which one is the lie - then you take shot and that’s how the game goes until we either know each other… or we’re plastered and even we don’t know if we’re lying or telling the truth anymore. I’ll start - I lost my virginity in the back of a pickup truck to a best friend because we were trying to recreate a movie scene, I have given a lap dance to extremely famous people when I was working in New York, including one Aubrey Graham -.. and during my ballet recital of the black swan, I lost a bet and ran completely naked other than my tutu down the back hallways. Try and figure the lie here.”
Sofia bites her lip as a yawn leaves her lips, shuffling out of her bedroom towards the kitchen where she heard Annabel shuffling around and making breakfast, making a wide grin coming to her lips. This was her favourite thing about living with Annabel, is that breakfast was always made for her. It was the best thing about having a roommate. “Hey, sweets. What’s cooking?” She asks, scratching her thigh gently. She was still dressed in her pajamas, which was only her cupcake underwear and a baby pink t-shirt she’d taken from the other girls drawers a couple nights ago.
The dark skinned girl worked at the stove quietly - as to not wake her roommate - though she knew the girl would be up in no time, Annabel wanted to let her sleep as long as she would naturally. Just continuing with her eggs on the stove, nearly jumping when the other entered the room from being in her own thoughts too much. “Oh-...” she trailed off, looking over the girl quickly and needing to turn her attention back to the stove because the girl even i her just awoken state looked so cute in her t-shirt and playfully printed underwear. “I was just making some scrambled eggs and toast, nothing special, really.-.. just breakfast.” She explained, laughing at herself for the small bit of rambling she’d done there.
“They asked me to sing tonight but i’m just not up for it right now, can you take me home?” She asked blankly, the girl wasn’t herself as of late.
“Hey - babe, it’s alright. You don’t need to sing, I’ll take you home, I wasn’t really into being here either.” She gave a small smile, she always came off as so motherly ninety percent of the time, “you could come back to my place if you need, we can watch some horrible b-list movies.”
@annabeldavis: She smells like lemon grass and sleep, she tastes like birthday cake, story time and fall... you would find her in a polaroid picture.
@annabeldavis: But to her, I taste like nothing at all.
“He was eleven, I wasn’t gonna say something like that.” But before she could speak again she lost it laughing, “Have you ever actually said that to someone?”
“At eleven he’s trying to hire a girl for - whatever he needed you for. You can say whatever you need to to bring the reality of the situation to hime.” Annabel broke out into laughter, shaking her head yes. “Of course I have, I had a 15 year old trying to buy a private show from me, he wasn’t getting it, so I just really explained to him”
“Right—” He trailed off, his eyebrows raising up in question as he let himself rest against a display shelf of records, his arms coming to cross over his chest. “And what does this have to do with me exactly? Because last time I checked, I’m payed to be a manager not a psychologist for customers to rant useless shit at.”
“I could be getting to a good part of the story,” she smirked, raising a brow at him, finding his rudeness a bit off-putting. “I won’t blame you for not putting up with customers, but here’s the thing. This pertains to you, because it’s going to be an amazing sale. I am buying a full vintage record player, with a good collection of records along with it - but I was testing you, because I like to work with sales people who can deal with ranting. It’s alright though babe, I can find everything myself.”
’ thanks for bumping into me, now i dropped my coffee. ’ she said, rolling her eyes in frustration.
“Oh - goodness, I’m sorry I wasn’t paying attention. I got a bit wrapped up in how gorgeous you were, my fault completely. I am more than happy to reimburse you for your coffee.”
“Come on babe, one drink wont kill you.”
“You’re completely wrong, one drink will kill me - because then I’ll need to follow it up with another, and I have a shift tonight, and I should probably rake in some good money before I go on my big one person vacation. Give me a reason why it will be worth it, and I’ll think about it.”
“I just had an eleven year old try to hire me, save me please.”
“Oh lord - love, I have been there. Here is how you deal with it, you ask them if they’ve ever seen a boob that wasn’t in grand theft auto, they’re going to say no. Then just tell them you aren’t pixelated and they’ll blow their load before the two of you even get to the final destination.”
“I hate when you’re like ‘fuck, it’s so hot’ and someone’s like ‘well… why don’t you take your jacket off?’ Like, bitch, no… this is my outfit. Mind your business. It’s worth the sweat.”
“When you have an outfit put together, like a quality outfit - the kind you would actually put on Instagram to get likes, there is only one reason you are taking any piece of them off. For me at least, that’s if someone else is taking them off for you.”
who do you prefer dancing for?
“I like dancing for rich guys, they like the stereotype of me being an exotic girl - and though it’s racist, and totally cliche - they pay me amazing money. I wish I could dance for girls more often, guys are malleable and I can make them into whatever I want, girls are usually harder they are already something and they know what they want out of me. Unfortunately, I don’t get a lot of girl calls.”
